- RitaThis is a scam
- ShaiHad an identical message to everyone above yesterday. Called the number and when they asked me for my full postcode, I got suspicious, as they usually only ask for one half because they already have the second half. Politely said that I would need to ring them back from the main number. Did this and was told that "collections" would not have been trying to contact me because I am not in any debt! They had no record of any calls or texts. It's a scam.

- S FreegardTexted to phone this number purporting to be HSBC and initially sounded like the HSBC message. Human being of likely Asian/Indian extraction then asked for sort code and account number. I only gave sort-code before realising probably hoax. Googling the telephone no. confirmed this was not HSBC. No breach of security.

- Raf| 1 replyWell, it is genuine HSBC number. I forgot to pay my credit card balance last month and they were chasing today. They did send a message via online banking few days back but I chose to ignore it :| Oh well.
- Caller: HSBC
- Call type: Event reminder
- Repeat offendersThis is NOT hsbc - please do not give them your details. I've had this before and rang hsbc customer services who confirmed no one was trying to contact me. If you call the number in the text message they ask for your security number - hsbc say this should always be done through their automated line and NOT to a person.
- Caller: Hoax claiming to be HSBC
- Call type: Scam suspicion
- Emma replies to JamesI just called hsbc via the number on my card and they confirmed they hadn’t tried to contact me via this or any other number today
- MikeCaller said they were HSBC chasing a debt which we knew we hadn’t got. At no time did they ask any security questions so when challenged didn’t know what to say so advised her the call would be terminated and she kept saying I understand so ended the call. Beware scam
- Caller: HSBC

- AN OTHER| 1 replyAs far as I am concerned this is fraud - the HSBC website does not list the number - when I called it and refused to give details, it was suggested I call the number on the back of the card - which is no longer available - considering the amount of "fraud" advertising going on at the moment - it amazes me that this is still happening. If this is genuine then HSBC need to up their game - last time I called them I had to setup a voice recognition password it was THAT secure - now I just phone up and am instantly asked for my account/card number...yeah right!
- Caller: HSBC
- Call type: Text message
- JackReacher replies to AN OTHERSo you are saying that the phone number on the back of your card has been disconnected?
- SamDon't believe they are real at all told the lady I wasn't in a position to speak at the moment insisted it was urgent which annoyed me, then I said I already spoke to them today paying it on my payday, at which point she was like I have no confirmation at this end, then tried talking to me about my account without verifying who I was, and no background noise? Deffinitly not hsbc call centre.
