- claire replies to TANYA77| 2 repliesi copied this number from my caller id at work after an aussie girl from melbourne called my work number to sell me something. i politely cut her off and said i wasnt interested and promptly hung up. SHE called me back three times that day until i told her i had her phone number and i would call her if she kept harassing me. she did keep calling so everyday for a month or so if i was quiet i would dial that number and let it ring out and would do that several times a day. the last time i tried to call it i was barred from making the call - i must admit i did find it quite funny

Telecommunications service provider Telko Pty Ltd has paid a $52,800 penalty after the Australian Communications and Media Authority found a call centre used by the company made telemarketing calls to numbers listed on the Do Not Call Register.
The ACMA received 91 complaints in three months about Telko from people who had registered their number on the Do Not Call Register. The calls offered to switch the consumer’s phone plan to Telko.
The ACMA investigation found that Telko did not effectively supervise the Australian call centre that made telemarketing calls to numbers on the register. Even though the calls were made by the call centre, Telko has the ultimate responsibility to monitor compliance.
Businesses using an external call centre for telemarketing must make sure that the centre is checking its call lists against the Do Not Call Register before any telemarketing calls are made. They should also audit each call centre to ensure that it is only calling numbers that are not listed on the Do Not Call Register.
If organisations don’t meet their obligations under the Do Not Call Register Act, they could face serious penalties from the ACMA.
Members of the public can opt out of receiving unsolicited telemarketing calls and marketing faxes by calling 1300 792 958 or by visiting www.donotcall.gov.au. Registration is free. Even if a consumer has an existing relationship with an organisation, the consumer can request that the organisation stop making telemarketing calls or sending marketing faxes.- Caller: Telko

I was misguided to believe the maximum amount Id be sonpaying for my business land line was $69 or so i thought....my first bill I came into contact with was over $300 however I had not received any account in the mail at this time. Admitittly I transered my land time to mobile a few times but to be charged such an exubeant amount had me asking questions. 4 times I spoke to a represenative and with in this time would have got more sense from a conversation with my pet at home. Not only did they contact me mislead me than ask for such a silly amount (which was mostly paid as i disputed the matter for too long over the phone) but the reason I did not receive any bill was all my details were incorrect and my abn details coming up under a different name....needless to say I have paid bills for the time I was with them but no where near the agreed amount.
