This is a pretty low grade scam operation..  Scattergun billing is their style..  Dumpster divers probably..  Do not contact them in any way..  The more info you hand out,  the deeper their claws can get into you..  Just ignore anything you get from these tossbags..   Some company is going to take you to court for 10 bucks..?  I don't think so..

This company is genuine, my debt was for an old video debt. I had moved address and all they had was my mobile number.

Its, not a scam. I had an old video store debt from a few years ago, this is what the txt was about

I got a message from a similar number! The end is different (29 insteAd of 09).
What do they want from me?!

I called the number back and told them that they had no right to charge me $40 for bringing back "A-Team" 5 days late.  I could have bout the friggin thing for $15 and if it was on the shelf no one would have borrowed it.
How do they get off profiting in this way?  I never agreed to these arseclowns sms'ing me.

I feel sorry for the poor [***] that bought into such a [***] business as video rental.

I suggest you change businesses too before you too go the way of the dodo, disco and dvd rentals

I got a letter from Legal & Commercial yesterday, they want a war, they got one with me... The letter was misleading and deceptive in conduct and material, they Labeled the letter as Network Video, and had all the content in a way that it was sent from network video till you get to payment and it has Legal and commercial in small print. So under the ACL and ACCC they must conduct themselves in certain ways, They mast identify themselves as being from a debt collection agency, explain their role in recovering the debt, failed to provide their licence number to act as a debt collection agency, not even provided an ABN.
I spoke to the ACCC who are very keen to see a copy of the letter from "Network Video" that is actually from legal and commercial to see the misleading and deceptive manner of the letter.
I am sending a letter to Legal and commercial to defend my consumer rights and demand that they provide the details of the debt and how it came to be, and also a certified copy of my signed contract with Network Video about debt recovery. These are my rights (and everyone elses) as a consumer, there is no way they can provide this information, so they can not prove the debt, nor can they take any further action or list or default my name. Also, a debt collection agency can not default a person in any way, the original company can only do that and the debt must be more that $100.

So good luck legal and commercial, I hope more people read this and screw you right back. Your a small time player...

Messages sent threaten a "defult listing" however Under section 18E of the PA 1988, a credit provider can also lodge a default listing on your credit report if you dishonour the same cheque for not less than $100 twice.  The cost of not returning an item (which so far has not been proved nor a signed copy of the contract been provided by Legal & Commercial") cant not exceed the original value of the item ~$30

The treat to list a default is misleading conduct and should be reported to the ACCC.  If you run a free credit search and find that this company has listed you, you can appeal under the grounds of not meeting section 18E and have it removed and a formal complaint registered against the company.

Just received this txt from an unknown number claiming that I had an outstanding account that has not been settled and asking me to call Legal and Commercial on 0397526206.  I rang and asked that my number be removed from their database which they agreed to do but only on the condition that I supplied them with confidential information which of course I would not supply.  Definitely a scam as I have no outstanding debts to anyone. They have said they will keep sending texts so I have blocker this number and any others they try to use.

Just received a letter saying that I owe $180 for unreturned product. No proof of what is unreturned, no proof of what is owing and why. The letter says that I can make all payments to a PO box. Does not list payment options does not list any addresses. Dodgy and sounds like a scam to me

I received a sms, addressed to someone I had never heard of, about being put on a default credit registry. It said to contact this number. After finding their website (Legal & Commercial), I decided to call and tell them they had the wrong number. Lady who answered was very polite and helpful and said I would stop receiving sms messages from them.

My name is Andrew Wall and I am the owner and founder of the company to which all these posts are referring, Legal and Commercial. 03 9752 6229. We are a debt collection agency that services clients from all over Australia. Recently it was brought to my attention that a number of web sites had many blogs referring to my company and 03 9752 6299 with regards to unsolicited txt or sms messages. I thought I should set the record straight as I was alarmed to read some of the misinformation being posted that is completely false and untrue.

There are only a few reasons why someone would receive an unsolicited sms or txt on their mobile phone from Legal and Commercial:
1.    We have been unable to make contact with you by conventional means (post).
2.    We have received mail back from Australia Post stating that you have moved address.
3.    Your home phone number is no longer connected or has been changed,
4.    The only contact information that may be current is your mobile phone number.
5.    You have recently been given a new mobile phone number by your telephone provider and that new number provided to you, previously belonged to the person we are seeking to contact. (you have been given a recycled phone number)

I also think it is important to explain why the text or sms sent to you is not specific in detail. Current privacy laws prevent us (or any debt collection agency) from being explicit with regards to debts owed and additional information including (DOB) date of birth etc unless we have already established the identity of the person we have been trying to contact. Until we can confirm that we are talking to the correct person, we are forbidden by current privacy laws to send that information out on sms or txt or by any other means. This protects the privacy of the debtor and ensures compliance to current laws. More importantly it ensures that we are not giving out personal information about yourself to the person who has picked up your old mobile number.

Immediately a layer of uncertainty and suspicion is created when you receive an unsolicited sms or txt from Legal and Commercial. It is very understandable to feel this way when you have never made contact with our office before, and may not even be aware that you have a legitimate debt in your name. There is nothing worse than receiving txt or sms that is not for you.

I trust this post has allayed a few fears and puts things back into perspective as to why you have received an sms or txt from Legal and Commercial. PS: Txt and sms is a cost effective way to make contact with debtors. Most of the debtors on our books have agreed to pay for costs of recovery in advance if your account moves into default. Legal and Commercial do not charge debtors accounts for the cost of sms or txt although allowed by the contract you signed. So please call and sort out what needs to be sorted.

This is a scam, I have no outstanding debts and I have only just returned from overseas, this text was sent to my new number so even if there was a debt, which there isn't, they would not have my new number (which is PAYG) on their records.
My advice, if they don't identify you by name in the text, then delete it.

Be careful all you unsuspecting people out there. Andrew Wall's assertion that he only uses these harrassing txt messages if they have been unable to contact you by conventional means is an outright lie. I recently had the displeasure of dealing with this cretin and at the same time he was calling me on the phone to try to extort money out of me i was also recieving txts saying my case had been 'escalated' (oooooh!). I also recieved emails so they obviously do this to pressure and scare people into paying a debt which may or may not exist. Be very careful of this guy.

I too have serious misgivings about how this company conducts its self and they certainly act in unethical and unscrupulous ways. $400 plus for dvds that apparently wernt returned over two years ago with no proof? I dont think so.
