Ok got the same problem 0418706700 this is what Telstra told me... If th emobile that is Overseas texts back to Aust it is the number for the TOWER yes the Telstra Tower the text first hits when it enters the Aust Network .. I argued then why do some texts appear as the number that has been texted & some appear as the TOWER number .. This they could not explain.....  So yes like many before me Im still disputing the texts

Unknown number appearing on our bill. Who is this from please?

My Daughter is currently overseas and I just checked her online calls to find this number over 50 times. She has not sent anywhere near this many texts so whats the deal

I will contact Telstra I will not pay this what a rip off.

Have just returned from O/S and received my bill from Telstra for SMS transmissions. The number
+61418706700 appears over a 100 times on my bill. Many of the times are doubled and are while I was flying from one point to another. Called Telstra and was advised that this number is for a Telstra  Message Centre. It is used when my SMS doesn't go through....asked why I had been charged for my message to go through to the SMS number then to this number and was advised that it means that my original message did not go through and I was charged for the service. I asked about the double billing and was told it is part of the service. Also asked about another bulk billing of another number and this was met with ...."Oh this must have been one of your mumbers" It's one of those 55555 strange numbers.
Yep....in the process of writing a letter of "....please explain?" addressed to the manager Telstra and also to the Comms Ombudsman

While overseas we had two mobiles, one of which had 127 SMS calls over eight days. One day had twenty five calls!

The number is how Telstra gets your SMS from overseas back to Australia.  When you send an SMS from overseas it has to come back to Telstra to process, and then Telstra forward the SMS to the person the SMS is intended for.  Re-directing your SMS to the 0418706700 number sends the SMS to Telstra.

I have accumulated over $56 of  international calls on this ( unknown to me) number to Australia while holidaying in Canada. It has only been 2 weeks of sms or  viber calls via wifi so am puzzled about it. I need to know if I will be charged on top of my monthly contract with telstra.
Can anyone explain to me how to avoid this extra charge.

got lots of charges from 0418706700 whilst in China recently. Also checked another bill from 2010 when in Europe and this number appears repeatedly.  
dealing with TELSTRA is difficult! very frustrating.

this is what is call a message centre number if you look in the message setting in your phone it will appear under the message centre number. all sms's will go through this number before it goes to the recipient of your sms whether you are in Australia or overseas. each phone company has a different number. when you go overseas some oversea providers will only give the Australian provider the message centre number not the number you sms. this is not something the Australia provider has control over  it is the overseas carrier that does. the sms's are still valid and are not an error.

Just received this message from the above number stating that I have won $1500.00 pounds from a Sony Ericsson promo, what a load of crap!!!
I don't even have that phone.
To all a scam and don't respond to the message as you will be charged on your bills.

I receive several calls from 0428 70 67 00 under another Nbr in my phone .... when I called 0428 70 67 00 ... no connection ! then I called the other number under which it appears on my phone, and asked if anybody had this nbr in one sensitive Australian admin >>>/ nbr unknown i was told ? could it be that the phone server is pirated ? or my phone is pirated ?

My x boyfriend has texted me on phone box saying that his going to kill me and my step dad and my next door this number comes comes up on a text MG's from phone box and his mobile is a different number but in texted I go on details and you're number comes up him using phone box or his own please ask me anything I'll try my best to answer thanks Rachel gale

Quite concerned about a MMS message received from this number 0418 706 700. The message cannot be deleted. Settings in my phone suggest that text messages are being sent thru or repeated to this number. Smells like spyware/spam. Smells like Telstra. Smells all shades of bad.
