Report a phone call from 056255255 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- Big RedWe are getting several calls from this number and quite a few other nuisance calls we now wait till the answer machine kicks in if they don't leave a message forget it!
- XertyHad 2 calls so far today. Such a short number I thought it was a mistake till I checked here.
These people make me want to rip my land line out. - PaulCalled back just got the message this number has not been recognised????
- whydoyouneedtoknow| 1 replyI am ex directory and have my name removed from the electoral list that the council have the right to and do sell to anyone willing to pay! Not sure how that stands up against the Data Protection Act but anyway there must be hundreds of companies or groups that obtain names, addresses and telephone numbers from UK residencies, probably legally and as we also know, illegally. Our details are kept by companies we deal with that have call centres abroad.
In my case the caller asked about any grants I may or may not have received in the past three years. When I asked who I was speaking to and why they needed to know this information, the caller told me he was speaking on behalf of my utility provider. When I asked who my utility provider was the caller hung up. He was asian, at least he had an asian accent, and I have no idea if the call was national or international. Can someone shed any light on that, maybe the forum moderator?- Caller: no idea
- MJust had a call from this number - again claiming to have a pre-approved grant for home energy conservation (or similar, don't remember exact wording).
Told him I wasn't interested and hung up. Knew my surname but didn't tell him any personal details. - Not happyThese foreign criminal won't stop ringing me. Just now at 8.57pm, and of course they hang up. Maybe the criminals have a dialler and if there is no one in to start the con, then it hangs up.
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Molatov CocktailThe phone rings. I pick it up and answer. Silence. Then it starts ringing another number whilst I'm listening. I then hang up - it's calling another number for me at PREMIUM RATE. This happens at least three times a day when I'm in to answer the phone.
- Molatov Cocktail replies to whydoyouneedtoknowYou want to get to the bottom of this? You've NO CHANCE. I'm ex directory and not on electoral role. I don't give my number out to anyone (I keep the phone only for broadband). I get these calls EVERY DAY - AND IT'S BEEN EVERY YEAR - FOR THE PAST SIX YEARS. No one is interested in "getting to the bottom of it". You're now STUCK with this number (and it's variations of which there are many) for the foreseeable daily future until you move house or die whichever comes first.
- Molatov Cocktail replies to carolYou'd better get used to it. I've put up with this for six years and I'm ex directory and not on electoral role. (I keep phone only for broadband.) Five calls a day? You'd better start unplugging because before I did, they phoned in the early hours of the morning and have done so for SIX YEARS EVERY DAY. If you wait for it to ring through to the next number, you are charged PREMIUM RATE for the privilege of answering your phone. I bet the MPs don't have this problem.
- jim2 calls a day no answer .please report this number to oftel
- Bill Payer.Where do they get the cheap phone deals from to sustain these wasted calls !!!.
- Caller: no idea, they hang up
- Plumb Bob| 1 replyHi all out there who are getting these annoying calls, just want to ask if future posters can state the supplier they are with,i just wondered if it was only certain suppliers who might be selling off customer details, or could it be all our charity donations to these 3rd world countries are helping to fund this monster, Surely our sophisticated telephone systems have got some sort of filter to block this kind of privacy invasion, don't forget you pay for this service it is your private life in your private dwelling, this is harassment and invasion of privacy, know your rights, lobby your MP.
PS, sorry to say that Oftel and the likes do not have any clout and are a waste of time-space and money, its just another Quango.- Caller: i think they are pervs listening to me breath
- craftycat replies to Plumb BobJust had a call from this number. There was a gap of a second or 2 while it connected to someone in some call centre somewhere then an Indian man picked it up and asked for a woman I've never heard of. Then asked if I lived at an address that isn't mine. When I told him I'd never heard of the woman he asked for my name and address which I refused to give. My number is registered with the TPS and I'm ex-directory. I repeatedly asked him who he worked for and what he wanted and the most I could get from him were the words cavity wall insulation. He refused to give me the name of the company and despite me telling him the number was registered with the TPS he insisted he was going to call back. I will report this number to the TPS and trading standards but like others on here have said I doubt it will make a difference. I considered buying a phone that will display the number calling but a lot of nuisance calls are from withheld numbers and as I get legitimate calls from hospitals that are withheld due to them coming through a switchboard I would still need to answer some nuisance calls so its not worth the bother. I get my phone from virgin media but my friend is with BT and doesn't have any problems. Unfortunately I can't change as the BT line is disrupted by trees.
- michrans| 1 replyHave discovered that talktalk offers a privacy setting called "last call barring". It costs £3.25 a month and might help to keep the buggers away. Other phone companies may offer spmething similar. Seems unfair that I have to pay to protect myself from nuisance calls though!
- Caller: don't know
- JayI've started logging every unwanted call here with OFCOM
https://stakeholders.ofcom.org.uk/tell-us/webflow/silent-calls/
Not sure if it works but something needs to be done !! worth a try ?- Caller: Some tout !
- EnsolThis 056255255 number must have been alocated by someone in the UK if it is a UK number. Surely it can be traced to its supplier who will know who the number is registered to and then the scammers can be slapped on the wrist and given a new number!
- Caller: Never spoke

- RJSThis number keeps calling us, several times a day, for the last few weeks. Tonight my husband answered & after a delay (which I would have put down on) 'Robert' asked if husband was the home owner. Husband (cannily) said no, it was rented. This works - they thanked him & put down. Hopefully, them thinking the house is rented will put them off for a while, but I too would love a website I could use to block calls like this.
