Had a rather demanding phone call from a young lady this morning 14august 2014, asking if I knew people across the road. When I questioned  as to why, I was told the matter was personal, and she had lost contact with them, speaking as if they were personal friends, and she was ringing from BRISBANE. Wow. .. I asked for her phone number, she said she was not allowed to give her number, but she could give me her extension, 3100. So it was obviously a company number, and it  was showing on my phone as 0730173999.

After I asked her at length the reason she wanted to contact the people across the road, and as to why she couldn't contact them by normal means, she came up with some rubbish. I asked for her company name. she said she was not allowed to give that.

I told her something was smelly about this call, and I wasn't going to help her, she responded with a breezy 'Byyyye".

Ringing 073017399 a guy answered Lion Finance. Why didn't they just be open and frank?

Nothing to be embarrassed about.  They are doing that to a lot of people, by calling neighbours etc...  It's a great way for people to learn how underhanded and illegal Lions are .  They are just giving themselves poor marketing by doing this.

returned a call, they asked for my name and D.O.B and then told me that i was not the person they were looking for. they use public listings to try and get in contact with there customers they have lost contact with and i happen to share the name of one of those lost customers

They cannot give the name of the company because it is basically telling you that the people across the road have debt collectors chasing them and that is a breach of privacy.

Received a call from this number today.  They didn't leave a message.

We had a call last week from a different debt collector.  They left a message asking for someone who we've never heard of before.

We don't have any debts, so we figured that maybe they were after the person who had our phone number before us.  Although after reading this thread I guess they might be after one of our neighbours (we've only just moved in so don't know them yet)

    So annoying :-(

Yes this is common of debt collectors they are taught how to investigate when looking for people as I use to work for a company. They don't reveal who they work for as their job is to get the information so its not suspicious just annoying

Firstly you don't owe debt collectors a damn thing as you don't have a contract with them.  They will try everything in their power to get one though by obfuscation.  DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY DETAILS AT ALL, let alone your birth date. All law is CONTRACT law - NO CONTRACT = [***] OFF  Everybody google "Your Strawman" then go into and do some serious research on Maritime/Admiralty Law.  Your ALL CAPS name is a PERSON that is a dead corporate fiction in Black's Law Dictionary.  The court's Black Grimiore = Legalese - they are parasites feeding off our energy.

You are not your birth certificate name, that name is owned by the CROWN.  If you give them your name (how can you give anybody our name??? which isn't even ours to give) then you are admitting to committing fraud.  DO YOUR RESEARCH.  We are all being conned.  This is the biggest ponzi scheme / shell game in history.  It's time to bring this [***] system down.  KNOW YOUR RIGHTS and above all KNOW WHO YOU ARE - OR MORE IMPORTANTLY WHO YOU ARE NOT!

My husband had a phone call from this number, they knew exactly the address he lived at, and asked if he could possibly give a personal  message to our neighbour across the road, he knew  our neighbours name  and his street address, is a little weird considering the neighbour he has looking for, had not long moved into this address.  How is it they know all this information, and where are they getting it from!!

Everyday easily 6 or more times on several different numbers saying they are from Lion and calling on behalf of Optus they won't leave me alone I made a mistake and handed over all my details now they won't stop harassing me :( they went on telling me that I earn enough to pay back my dept to Optus of $400 an that I need to pay $80 a week. I am a single mum with 3 children I don't work and I don't know how they think I can afford $80 a week. I tried to explain that an she said yes I can afford it an yes I have to stick to this agreement. They wouldn't except any less amount so now as I said I couldn't afford the repayments now everyday 6 plus times a day for the last 2-3 months I am getting calls :( FML!! I would be happy to settle but not if they can't work with me.

07 3017 3999 had called my mum, saying they found her number in the phone book. (I live 600km away) Said his name was Dan and was looking for Lisa, or something that sounded similar. Mother had a cold and thought it sounded close to my name so thought he was looking for me. He asked her to call me and pass on that he called, a ref. no. and asked her to tell me to call the number back. He also said he will call back and ask her if she had passed on the message to me. He did not tell my mother what company he was calling from or give out any details about himself, just that his name was Dan.

Only thing is I have no debt, never had any loans and the last credit card I had I payed off over 2 years ago and cancelled it.

I still haven't called them back

    Yeah it's definitely Lion Finance.
They actually called MY neighbour to give me a message, but they aren't allowed to say what it's regarding.
This must mean they have a 'grey pages' or reverse phone book however.

If you dont repay your loan or credit card your debt will be sold - it's in the contract you sign.
Everything they do is legal and if you thought it was illegal you would have contacted the police /asic/ombudsman however you haven't!
Pay your debt and stop complaining! If you can't pay it do what you can to sort it out and stop avoiding their calls.... they wouldn't  keep calling if you answered or returned their messages.

Had a message on my answering machine to call a lady at this number and quote a reference number.  When I called back I was asked to verify my personal details before they could disclose any information to me.  I said no as I didn't know who they were.  When I asked what it was about they advised they were from Lion Finance chasing debt.  As I don't have any finance I told them they must have the wrong person.  One year later my neighbour leaves a note in my letterbox saying someone is trying to get in touch with me and could I phone this number and quote a reference.  I didn't call back but instead decided to do a Veda Credit Check and have now learned that I am a victim of identity theft which started back in 2010, five years ago!  It is currently being investigated by police.  You can do one FREE credit check per year.  If you are called by a debt collector and you do not owe money I urge you do a credit check.

I think they're upset they sent all these unsolicited cards to unsecure mail boxes knowing that bad people get info from fbook to run up big bills on nicked credit cards. It's shocking what low lifes do to lovely hardworking bankers on Struggle Street Potts Point.

    Concerned!!
I have received an email asking me to call this number & quote a certain reference number. It says if im not the person they think I am can I email them to advise them & then delete the email.
I am an overseas resident who used to live in Brisbane. The email says they are attempting to make contact regarding a personal business matter.
Who are these people & what do they want?
