Similar to others here - phone call from "Monica" with a reference number but not details about who she is calling from and what it is in regard to. Won't be calling them back!

People should start putting their names address with a phone, these people are the lowest form of life

I got a call from this number (07) 30173999 from a male person of New Zealand accent. He did not say who he was or where he was calling from and started asking me to verify my address, if it was...so and so street....etc. I did not confirm and asked him back who he was looking for. He then asked if I knew where this certain address was (which happened to be 2 numbers down from mine) and gave me the person's name. I didnt confirm anything and just told him he had the wrong number and I hung up. I felt terrified since the phone call was so weird and I googled and found this page. Good to know others are getting the same call and that the people calling are debt collectors. I still dont know how they got my number though. I dont owe any money to any wired finance company at all and have never been in bad debt.

* Collectors will only be calling you if you are a potential lead to get to the person who owe's the debt.

* if you are the person who owe's the debt then thats why they call you also. ( Common Sense )

* If you want calls to stop one thing- Call them and pay your money back if you cant afford it SIMPLE call them and sort something out so then calls will stop- Calls wont stop if there is no result on the account wether it be arrangement or some sort of hardship ( again will need proof for hardship ) as a lot of people just don't wanna pay it

* If you are serious and have no contact to the person they are searching for and are still getting calls- Again call them and have your number removed that way they will know for sure you don't know them. In there eyes you may be covering up coz in a lot of situations that's the case- They will happily remove you number being an Inbound call.

* If you believe you do not owe the debt yet they have all your information - Then go and work with them to commit a fraud as someone has clearly used ur information and to me I would be straight onto that.

* If you think you don't owe it yet don't wanna do anything about it- its clear to them you are just disputing it and that's why calls continue.

* so moral off story take responsibility and sort your stuff out as this could escalate further through legal action.
its not hard to call up and and sort it out right there and then. PEACE

* they do not say company due to the person who they are after's PRIVACY.
you wouldn't want them calling people trying to find you and saying the company would you ?
everyone will know you owe money to them and that is why -

* again they only ask for DOB confirmation if you have the same name as the person they are after to again see if its the right one so just say your DOB and obviously if its not the same one they wont continue- if you are hesitant to give Details they will assume your are hiding something there for calls will continue - so if you are sure its not you why would u hesitate- that's something you should consider . thank yu

07  3017 3999 just had a call from this number asking for Miss L R, he says 'we know she doesn't live at your address but she lives in your street so do you know Miss L R.
I've received many calls from this number don't answer as I don't know the number. My name is not Miss L R. It's Mr! I told them to not call this number again it's annoying!

My answering machine does a great job for me. I never answer the phone unless I know who is calling. I'm very clear "Leave your message and phone number or you are wasting your time". they never do but they try with some other number or silence number (from time to time) only to get  the same result. The trick is:  DO NOT BE CURIOUS...NEVER ANSWER THE PHONE YOURSELF !!!

Got a call from 0730173999 and they asked if I could give a message to the woman at No.90 across the road. The person on the phone says that they are having trouble contacting them. Once the person on the phone gave me a Reference number in the message I suspected a debt collection agency. I looked up the phone number here. The number they told me to tell my neighbour to ring was 1800 708124 . Needless to say I wont be leaving any note in her letterbox. They can send my neighbour a note themselves, its called a letter.

Have had these people harassing me they have called my work and harassed me and my fellow Co workers have also rang my partners place of employment and my mother's house phone.... really rude people I am over it considering changing my number

Lion finance bunch of lowlife scum

They just called me today and said that i have personal loan in ST GEORGE BANK and i owe them $30455.4. The lady called and ask hi Anthony ***   Please confirm your DOB and i just told her and she asked if i used to work at *** and told my previous address and she also asked me to tell her my current address. She then continue asked me to offer her my credit card number and other information.  She just kept FORCING me to offer my bank information even though i said that i haven't bought my wallet with me.  I was really shocked that where did she got my contact number and my other information?   It's really ridiculous cause i have never been to that bank and never had any loan in that bank? I just afraid if they will continuously harass me!

It's definitely Lion. I believe, legally if you owe them money they can't come to your door, they will call your neighbours and even visit them. They will even get your neighbours to write messages and leave them on your doorstep. They are hardcore and at the very bottom of the debt collection pond.

Lion Finance do not use Facebook to harass people. It is completely legal for them to ask you to try and source funds either through consolidation loans, redraws, or loans of a personal nature including family. It is also completely legal for them to deny you an arrangement to pay off your debt if you refuse to provide a statement of position or if your statement of position shows that you have the funds to pay off your debt. Also, depending on the laws of your state, they can DEFINITELY tell you they can repossess your possessions - this is completely correct and legal with a court order. You do not need to sign a contract with Lion Finance for the debt to be owing to them and be in a legally binding contract - if you took the time to read your ORIGINAL loan contract you will see that they have the right to sell your debt at any time, and you will legally owe all funds borrowed + any accrued or future interest to the buyer of the debt, in this case Lion Finance. It is called a unilateral change to your contract, so those saying that you don't owe anything to them because you haven't signed a contract with them - you're wrong.

Lion Finance will leave messages, but due to privacy laws they are unable to advise where they are calling from. If you give them your work # but you're not at your desk, and your colleague answers your phone, would you really like them to tell your colleague that they're calling from a collection agency? I don't think so. Even if it wouldn't matter to you, it is not only their company policy but the LAW, that they cannot disclose that information to anyone but the customer, and they need to confirm at least your full name but often at least 1 other point of ID, whether that be DOB or address. Also doing third party searches including looking in White Pages etc for neighbours and relatives, is again, completely LEGAL and ABOVE BOARD. You might not like it, but if you didn't avoid them then they wouldn't have to do it. Either pay your debts before they go to a collection agency, or update them when you move, change your number, etc. You're bringing hell on yourself and your family by not doing this.

Also, bankruptcy lasts for up to 10 years, you can never become the director of a company (for the span of your life, not just the bankruptcy period), it restricts your overseas travel, stops you from doing any borrowing, you lose all of your assets including your car, property, savings etc. Bankruptcy is NOT the easy or best option when you can work through your issues - it should be viewed as the last resort that it is and not anything else.

Co-operate with collectors and your life won't be so hard.

This is Lion Finance (debt collection agency) -  they will likely provide their own Christian name &  say there a "financial services company" &  request confirmation of your identify,  before they are prepared to offer their own details,  or reason for their call.

Theives. You borrowed money and now youre complaining some body is chasing you up for it. Same thing a drug dealer does. Just the way the world goes sorry. Pay your [***] and get on with your life

These were harrassing me last year re: an old origin debt. I contacted Origin Energy & confirmed the debt, paid it directly to Origin. So when these guys called again (and again and again), I provided them with receipt numbers etc. It has been cleared by Origin & yet these [***] continue to harrass me. I wish they would just f*%+ off! Its been dealt with, now go away FFS!

Am getting calls from 073013999, either hang up or don't leave message.  Can I block them?
