- Ihatepr| 1 replySee my blog http://ihatepr.wordpress.com for my correspondence with virgin mobile about this. They really couldn't care less
- FoxyI have just returned from Spain and my bill has two charges of 11p with this number. There are also lots of other numbers registered on my bill ending 881, 882,885 but they do not charge. I called Virgin and the gild hadn't got a clue what it was and offered no help. Having read all of your comments I am now going to email Virgin with a formal complaint. I am thinking of talking to trading standards to see if Virgin are obliged to act on our complaints and get this type of hacking barred. I suspect they are being lazy. Has anyone tweeted Richard Branson about it? I would if I was a tweeter!

- FoxyUpdate on earlier message. Virgin called to say it was a T.Mobile charge for going into their area abroad and using their signal. I said that my contract was with Virgin alone and asked were they collecting these 11p x 3 on behalf of T.Mobile and forwarding it? The Operator said that she would refund the charges and my complaint would be escalated to management to investigate. Satisfactory result except I will probably have to phone up to claim it back each time. My phone also switches to Orange when I am in Spain and although I get text messages showing on my bill they are are charged as zero pence. I hope Virgin sort this out with T.Mobile.

I havent called the number nor checked my bill but going by the comments, I am best to leave it alone I think.- Caller: txt4loan

- SteveThis number is using gumtree to obtain peoples details using email address sharon1977wilson who is someone (probably innocent party) who lives in Indonesia which was mentioned above by someone else. Gumtree are currently investigating. I and my wife have to check our mobile bills now to see if they have conned us too.
- carol| 1 replyI have just come back from Turkey, checked my bill with virgin, there were 14 texts that I supposedly sent to that number, at a cost of £3.25 phoned virgin, woman on phone wasn't that helpful implied I must of sent texts, I will now be making a formal complaint
- rosita replies to carolHi Carol,
The same happened to me - for each text I have been charged 25p. There are two numbers 07958879879 and 07958879885. I have not text or call any of those numbers. Can you tell me the outcome of your complaint please? Thank you. - TamThe senders of chargeable SMS messages should should be known to OFCOM, but neither of the two numbers you quote has been registered with PhonepayPlus. It might be worth contacting PhonepayPlus for assistance. Their helpline is on 0800 500 212 (Mon-Fri, 0900-1700).
- Confused07958 879879 was the Msg'ing Centre used to send a text to me from 07860 022189 asking me to give feedback (1-5) re: a supposed hospital visit!!! Request reads as follows: "Your hospital asks you to think about the ward you spent the most time on during this stay. How likely are you to recommend our ward to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment".
- No hospital name or NHS Trust even mentioned!
N.B. From previous experience of text scams, Virgin recklessly pays Co's. (who provide your number and supposed usage) with the amounts they request with no questions asked!! Very irresponsible............ in fact, Virgin are colluding with the fraudsters when they have NO INSTRUCTION from you to pay these scam Co's!!- Caller: Not Known
- Call type: Survey
- CAIn Paris, with a Virgin phone and this number 07958879879 appears on "My recent usage" on their website as a recipient of texts I never sent. I know that coz I use Voip to call and text and I tried this number and it would not let me. Virgin did not put the number on my bill though and did not help me to get to the bottom of it. They were very unhelpful. Also the number 07958879890 appears on my phone settings as my smsc number. Should this in fact be my own number? Can anyone can help?
