Persistant calls. Hangs up on answer.
Anybody know Who or Why?

Just found out this is a marketing call from British Gas if you call back the number there's a recorded message with details of how to get removed from thier cold calling list.

Its me calling you to annoy you

they keep pestering me, but i have found out that it is British Gas. They are cold  caller trying to get your custom with what they call a beptter deal. beware!

Thanks to the person who gave the email address: leanne.davies@britishgas.co.uk, I hope these calls will cease.  More interesting was finding an article in The Daily Telegraph of Friday 23 October which says that companies which make silent calls 'will face swingeing fines of up to £2 million, under plans to be unveiled today'.  So keep complaining.

Received a call from this number today but they hung up before I could answer it.  Am glad that I didn't if it's from British Gas!

Phoned up B.Gas- They were sorry
I have asked many times to be removed from the list on the automated system over the past 90 days but this has not happened.

Filed a complaint with Ofcom. You can file one here it only takes 60 seconds: https://www.ofcom.org.uk/complain/landline/silent/?itemid=284912 and send a complaint.

I also spoke to customer services they were as useful as a chocolate teapot!

Calls are made from Talbot road, manchester Office of British Gas. Info on the complaints process is at http://www.britishgas.co.uk/pdf/wearelistening.pdf with two telephone nos 0800 072 8632 but demands you provide an account no, or tell them if you have a prepayment meter etc, which is not relevant when you don't have an account.

Second one is "If you are not happy with the resolution of your complaint,
please contact Andy Eley, Head of Complaints: 0800 107 0184.  Andy Eley does not answer the phone -EVER- say the staff and is uncontactable- Handy Ehhh.

The title of BG complaints process is " We're listening", which is true , they never promised to ever do anything - just listen. I've had several silent calls today , which their complaints department didn't take seriously, saying things like " you will have to show that its it was us that made the call."

Around 7 silent calls today, and one call finally containing a voice , that of Martin Blackmore, asking for someone who doesn't live here- or has ever lived here. He failed miserably to realise that BG had been given a 'bum steer ' of a false phone number.

stop cold calling. You will loose more customers than you gain.

8 calls yesterday from that Number. I Ignored calls. Advantage of CLI.

I get at least 3 calls per day from this number, crazy

Have had 3 calls this week; I think its because we stopped our B.G. service on the boiler; we have a new boiler and a years free maintenance from the supplier then a much cheaper annual fee anyway!

It's British Gas sales and they are soooooo annoying and persistant!!!

thought that cold calling was illegal

this number phones me 3-4 times a day i phoned it back and got an automated message saying you were called today by british gas about a non urgent matter we will try again , if its non urgent why the need for so many calls??

I went on to the British gas website and emailed them under customer services to ask for this to stop, received an email back the next day saying I had been removed from their list and an apology. see below

To whom it may concern, You have repeatedly called my home number to initiate a sales call (3x today), I wish this to stop. I have made a complaint to Ofcom regarding this. If you have a database of numbers that you call please remove my number. I am a member of the TPS scheme so shouldn't be receiving this type of call from yourselves. Thanks

Fingers crossed this will now end it (in the next 28 days!!)

These people have been persecuting me for 15+ years. 4 calls today from 08000 724699 and have had to inplug the phone. This despite being a member of TPS, being ex-directory, numerous complaints to Brit Gas and Telecom. Bought my first answer phone  13 yrs ago after two years of sheer hell. When you do get a human voice they act as if you're pestering them.
Blocking the incoming number only works for a short time - they just call from a different one. Lost count of the Gas numbers I've blocked over the years. Wish now I'd kept a detailed record;  at the start it you don't think it'll go on for ever, but it does.

British gas pests, i called this number, got an answer machine telling me to call another number to be removed GRRRRRR this is harassment, i despise British gas for this type of call....

Have been getting several calls a week off this number for months and months, do they ever give up?? have never answered it but just figured out it was British Gas when I called it back. . . This would make me think twice about being a customer of theirs. . .very annoying!!
