I just received a call from this number on my mobile - I NEVER answer calls to my mobile unless they're in my phone-book.  Thanks to this site I now know who it is - and will wait to see if they call back !

Just received a call from this number.  Said hello but all I could hear was was one side of a conversation.  The chap was talking about a speeding/road traffic offence, seemed to be having a right old laugh.  I suspect he was probably just pressing the call button to keep his quota of outgoing calls up whilst not actually doing any work.

Is it ridiculous that I actually want to complain about this lad not doing his job properly and trying to sell me a boiler?

Wish these bunch of c*nts would stop calling me.

This one is becoming a real pain in the backside. I must have had a call from them at least once or twice a day for well over a month now (if not longer) and it's bordering on harassment now. If it was important they could leave a message but they don't.

Reading the comments above I finally caved in and phoned the "opt out" number on the British Gas website, gave my details to the automated system and now it'll apparently take 28 days to remove my number. Quite why it takes so long to remove a number from their system, I don't know. Actually I do - it's because they don't give a sh*t and aren't going to prioritise staff time on the "removing numbers from the database" queue.

It's a flamin' liberty (tch!!!) when I have not given them permission to call me, I have not been a customer for nearly a decade, and they are clearly just trying to sell me something. I shouldn't have to phone them to remove my number when they shouldn't be phoning me in the first place.

keep getting calls but leave for the answer machine to kick in, they then end call, still annoying as I still have to stop what I'm doing to see who's calling.  When is the government finally going to rid us of these calls?

Yes, it's them (British Gas) again! I have thought I stopped them for a while but receive no joy to have them again. I am completely disabled (aged nearly 89) and by the time I get to my  text/relay phone, they have rang off only leaving their number on call display. My wife (92) at the moment is in hospital 20 miles away  and every time the phone rings I fear the worst. How fortunate we can google their number and have this site ”who calls me” to share our troubles I have signed the WHICH? Petition against nuisance calls. Will the government listen? They probably don't know what to do about these calls. But we will remember when we are urged to deal with British Gas and Centrica their parent firm! Leave them alone.

Once more the ghastly number. I wonder if these telepests read "whocallsme" (this website) and then take revenge on those who comment negatively on their actions? Anyone has any ideas on this?

next time they ring write the number down --and when you pass a public call box give them a ring -- at least you get the satisfaction of costing them a few pence.
don't use your own phone !!

Copy of my email to Mr.Laidlaw (B Gas CEO):
I will see how this runs

    Mr. Laidlay,

I thought that the troubles that I had with British Gas were all a distant memory, but now I find myself receiving repetitive telephone calls from your company attempting to sell me your product.

    The dates are as follows:
    ****
    ****
    ****
    ****
    ****
    ****

When queried about the details of previous correspondence, the operatives appear to have no record whatsoever regarding my previous history with you.
On the **Date** I received a call and insisted that any further contact from you shall be classed as harassment, but this only seemed to have fallen on deaf ears.
After some thought on this I have chosen to take the following option as oppose to reporting it to the authorities as harassment.
My occupational hourly rate works out at £25 per hour or part of.
Thus each time you call me, the cost of dealing with your unwanted attentions shall be levied upon you.
It appears that you are employing my services for entertaining your incompetent staff as they appear to refuse to accept a simple denial of contact.
This must be the case, as the only viable alternative is that your operators prompt unwilling members of the public to become abusive due to their constant harassment.
I trust you understand my stance on the matter as my time spent is valuable as is yours.
This evening started the account and it now stands at £25. Which I shall class as a simple compensation cost for my time and the need to research details and formulate this email.
Please either credit my account, you still have the details on record, or send a cheque ( I expect it shall be the first of many) to my address which you have on file.

To refresh your memory of our previous correspondance I have attached copies of all 10 final account statements from you showing different amounts in each instance, which shows you the reason that I do not wish to be one of your customers.

Please TRY to use ONLY email to correspond to me on this matter as further telephone calls shall be levied at my standard cost of £25 per hour, or part of the hour.

I also feel that this is a better alternative to insisting on prosecution due to your harassment.

If your time is so valuable, why take the time to have written that email? Surely you don't actually think BG will give you money when they don't owe you anything? You chose to "research" and write the email and if you picked up the phone to BG then that was also your choice! The staff probably had a good laugh at your expense!

Tuesday 24th December - yes CHRISTMAS EVE and still they think nothing of harrassing people.  I answered it as it hadn't come up on my phone list as SPAM but the number will soon be added to it shortly.  An Irish man asked me how I was - (busy) and proceeded to read from his script about the fantastic deal they had going whereby you could call them free of charge if you had a boiler breakdown and however many times it broke down you would only pay a fee of £99 whatever the cost of repairs.  On top of this there's a £4 a month fee to pay for the first year (wonder how much it goes up to after the first year)and  how did I feel about that?  I said that in all the years we have had a gas boiler it's only gone wrong a couple of times and we have paid for it to be repaired and had no intention of paying monthly "just in case".  STILL he wouldn't give up, didn't I think it was a good price, what price would I think was a good one etc.  I told him that even if it was £1 a month I still wasn't interested in taking up his offer.  STILL he went on - what's stopping me taking up the offer and I took great delight in telling him that it was HIM going on and on about it that was stopping me and had to hang up on him in the end otherwise he would still have been trying the very hard sell.   Quite often I wonder what benefit there is from being on the Telephone Preference Service list which I have been since 1998 because it obviously doesn't work.
