Thanks for all of your comments this is my first silent caller and I now know what to do.  I too got sucked in by going onto one of those comparison sites.

Got one of these today and found this site. Didn't trust their automated system so called 0800 952 4871 to be put through to a human being and she amended my record on their database (I have one policy with More Than but don't want any more). I told her about other people (you guys) having the same problem and that it had been reported to Ofcom but if that makes a difference, I don't know. Let's hope so!

This number keeps calling. Typed in the number and discovered it's supposed to be More Than. I still don't answer but it's getting irritating :o/

I have had a couple of silent calls from them. I decided it would be appropriate to give um a call back. On my first call to them, when the fella answered, I just gave a little sniff to let him know I was there and after he asked how he could help, I asked him if he would mind just being quiet for a minute as I wanted a silent phone call. I then said nothing, after a munite he hung up. Call number two to them involved me asking if she could help follow up a call I had just got on my mobile. I said, "If I tell you what they said, maybe you could help me?". She replied (with a giggle), "If I can". I said (....SILENCE) and then said "and then this happened", and I hung up. I would suggest for every call you get you give um one back. I know damn right I will!

Oh ye. It costs THEM money if you call them back (0800 300 220).

yes they are STILL doing this!!!!! I got a phonecall this morning, picked up.. said hello... nothing for about 2 seconds except noise and then it hung up. did 1471 and it was this number! what complete idiots! How can they not realise that this will severely affect their business, because now even if they did ahve the cheapest quote, no way would I go with them because they waste peoples time and are prank calling people?! isn't that for 7 year olds not insurance companies?!

after reading these comments i'm going to send more then an invoice for £250 for my time in getting these calls, and back it up with a county court order. hopefully this might stop them using this method

This number in fact represents LBM Marketing Ltd, who work as an outsourcer for More Than insurance. You will most likely be speaking to an LBM employee (if you even manage to speak to someone), who will inform you they are calling on behalf of More Than. I recently left LBM, having become fed up of the way they conduct their business and treat their staff. A quick search on google should tell you all you need to know. They also have clients such as O2, Vodafone and UIA.

If you are receiving these calls, the best possible advice I can give is to ask to be suppressed from the database (the exact disposition offered to the agent for customers who do not wish to be contacted.) Sadly, knowing some of my ex-employees, it is also advisable to ask politely as an earful of abuse usually ends in them putting your number back into the system. Shameful, but true. Ignoring the calls simply will not work unfortunately, as the number automatically goes back into the dialler, usually to be tried again the day after.

To avoid getting these calls in the first place, all I can recommend is signing up to the TPS (which I can confirm WILL WORK.) If you still get calls despite this you need to contact the TPS and ask why, as it is impossible for LBM's manual dialler (AMCAT) to try number if you are signed up.

Finally, the 'tick box to prevent marketing calls' on More Than's website (and indeed many others) only applies to other RSA affiliates and third parties using your details, not More Than themselves. A cunning guise. Just DONT GIVE your contact number; it is not necessary to get a quote. Or alternatively give a nonsense number eg 07777777777.

This number calls then we pickup and it hangs up.

i went on a recommended search engine for car insurance and got calls within hours. I will be ignoring the number in future.

I just received a call from this nuimber and they identified themselves as Morgans Insurance. I am on the TPS and said this but he still continued to ask me questions regardless I am FURIOUS!

i have done this now says 3/5 working days for it to stop , i wont hold my breath
