I had a call today, claimed to be Talk Talk (I am a Talk Talk customer) and tried to upsell me a "better" tariff for phone and broadband. I fully agree with those who say don't give out or admit to anything until the caller proves who they are. They called you out of the blue from an untraceable number, why should you trust them?
Just checked my account details, the setting is, "No marketing" either from Talk Talk or third parties.

This number has just rang this morning. I normally ignore the phone and let it go to answerphone. I decided to pick it up this time. A lady with an Asian accent answerd and claimed she was from Talk Talk and asked for my wife by name. As we are with Talk Talk, I passed the phone to the Wife. They sarted asking my wife for personal details and asked what we used the internet for. Then they asked if we wanted to change our telephone account for a better one .I told my wife to hang up. The next thing they will ask for is bank details. I obviously then dialed 1471 and got this number. Judging by the above, I recon it's just a scam to get bank details. I will never give personal details out over the phone and have told my wife the same. There should be a law against these people being able to phone people out of the blue to get personal details. I almost never answer my house phone because of these dodgey calls.

When these people ring up ask them to prove that they are who they say they are (or represent). 99 times out of a 100 this perfectly reasonable request will flummox them!

Keep getting these calls at all hours. A complete pain

all they do to me is (as i don't usually answer phone) when the answer machine starts someone (same woman and once a guy) "hello.... hello... hello?" hang up... they might stop if i ignor but i am tempted to say what you did XD

I got called from this number and didnt know who until I had read all your comments.  Wont be ansswering or phoning them back.  Some ppl just dont know when to stop harrasing ppl and I never answer these types of numbers anymore because of this reason.

I just rang this number back and got a message saying it was The Talktalk Group.

I think you will find that the user you are referring to is not a TalkTalk Operative or an OCE they are just users like yourself and myself that were trying to offer assistance to your query.

I for one personally have found the Talk Talk Forum to be extremely helpful and always use this medium for questions and queries, I do not use the telephone services as rightly pointed out on this very page the operatives seem to understand little english and cannot answer the basic of questions.

Very interesting to read and I have the same issue where somebody is trying to convince me to 'UPGRADE' to Talk Talk Plus which would actually cost me more money than I pay now. Despite informing the lady on the other end of the phone that it doesn't make sense and I have no need for it, she still insisted that it was a good idea! I have now been pestered a number of times and even though each time I tell them that it makes no financial sense what so ever the calls still keep coming.

I went to my online account and checked my marketing preferences were set to don't call me, and they were so I emailed Talk Talk to ask why such calls were happening.

I got a response that they had requested for my details to be updated on their system regarding my marketing calls to be stopped. Doh, they already were set to this but were clearly being ignored.

They also suggested that I add my telephone number to the Telephone Preference Service. Already done that years ago because I hate being told that I should buy something that I really don't want and I double checked with them and it is still registered.

Icing on the cake - It was suggest also that I purchased Last Caller Barring for just £3.18 per month or Anonymous Caller Reject for just £3.80 per month..... What, you are actually telling me that I should purchase additional packages to stop such calls like the ones that you should have never made in the first place!!

I recieved loads of call from 08009886220 but kept ignoring them just answered tonight and it was an asian woman telling me i had to upgrade my talktalk account i kepy telling her i was happy with my account until she got fed up and hung up, i dont know if it genuianlly is talktalk or not

Looks like another number going on a comparison website because thats where they are getting your number from if you've done insurance quotes or left your number for any reason! in future use these sort of numbers and then they can ring each other..!
And ring 14771 so you can log it as a malicious call!

Had a call today-ignored it- that's why I have my answering machine on permanently. It's probably an auto dial that's drops the call if it spots an answering machine

This is Talk Talk.  I keep asking them to remove me from call lists.  They take me off for couple of months then put me back on.

Have been getting regular calls from 08009886220 for a couple of weeks now. Said they were from Talk Talk and could save on landline calls.  Despite telling them not to call our number again, the calls keep coming.  Called Talk Talk as a customer and they advised this was an international number which could not be tracked. Asked about call barring but it costs £4.80 a month I think he said. Rejected!  We will just keep putting the phone down and telling them to naff off. As pensioners we are angry that some vulnerable people could be conned by calls such as this.

I receive regular hang-up calls from this number. Finally called back to a rather patronising voice recording saying it's the TalkTalk Group and that there is "nothing to worry about". No opportunity to speak to anyone. I am registered with TPS so should not receive any unsolicited calls. I will be reporting this company.

I have been receiving calls from this  number with regards to my talktalk account. Am not sure it is legit, so I simply interrupted and stated that if I was unhappy I would contact on my own. If it is not legit I simply wanted to report it. If it is, maybe I am overreacting, I just don't want anyone getting scammed if it is not legit.
