This is not a scam.  I responded to this letter by telephoning this Freephone number.  Yesterday I received a cheque for £8.50 as stated in the letter.  Not a fortune but better than nothing.

Got letter.. called number it is automated. You give the account number in the letter and they send a cheque out to the person named on it. Not a scam i called in paygo mobile.

Rather than sending me a letter, why didn't they just send me a cheque for £5.82

I left Sky in 2008 as because of their appalling service, wouldn't go back to them if they offered me £582

I agree.  Have just called the phone number (free 0808) given on the MSE site.  Call took 30 seconds, all I entered was the account number on the letter sent to me (no bank details, no card number, just the account number that they sent to me).

Thanks for your link as I was about to bin the letter, now I get to live the highlife...£11.10's worth... ;)

Recived the letter today and rang the number twice, on both occasions when I was asked to send my account number they didn't give me time to enter it, saying they hadn't received it, then cut me off.

It is Genuine - If you call them you get an automated message asking for the account number on the letter. They will then send a check to the same address as on the letter. You have to give no other personal details.
To be extra sure I first checked my old Sky account which showed the same credit value.

We got this number in a letter from Sky.
We phoned and an automated system takes your Sky account number and they send a cheque.  Hardly a scam!!!!
