This is indeed PayPlan. A reputable debt management company who are one of the few who can effectively negotiate with creditors without having to resort to IVAs. They handle debt management plans and are highly regarded within their industry. I would recommend them to anyone. That said, they do sell other services, but as far as I know not by unsolicited calls.

I contacted them some months ago, and when they said my credit rating would be affected, and as I haven't defaulted on anything yet I decided to try and sort my own finances, and I am seeing some light at the end of the tunnel now, BUT I have been plagued by calls and letters from them ever since.

The number is part of the PayPlan group, i'm currently on a Payplan scheme and have the number saved to my phone so i can answer it without any concern.
FYI - they do offer insurance, but also as stated in some of the comments if you tell them you're not interested they will stop calling
at the moment there is a company called 'stake your claim' which is part of the Payplan family, and although i have those PPI cold callers, these guys are handling my PPI claim, and whats even better is that the percentage they take if your claim is succesfull is only 12.5%... bloody marvellous.

I can confirm this is PayPlans "Stake Your Claims" arm, the PPI reclaim department. Very nice and friendly people, they only reason they wont confirm who they are first is in fact Data Protection.

You speak with forked tongue.         They only hide behind the Data Protection Act.     How exactly do you think it applies?

This is indeed PayPlan, they've helped me over the last two years with my debt and I'm now in the final six months to being free of my debt. Very friendly staff, yes they aren't all UK based but very polite and helpful, offering very honest and frank advice about creditors and how they operate their bullying tactics.

If you do ask they will call you regarding Insurance and utility services but they will also help investigate at the previously mentioned rate of 12.5% on win or no fee if no win for PPI claims. Compared to the 20-25% on the market this is a good rate for the work they'll do. If you do win some or all of the money can be used to reduce your debt with that creditor which can mean getting out of debt sooner or even removing a creditor who (Barclay Card) is a royal pain in the behind.

Yes this is payplan & group ...they are indeed a reputable company and the PPI dept are very good no up front charges 12.5% of what you claim back.... and no charges to run your dmp. if you want one.

I have had a dmp with Payplan for 10 years, and they are no help whatsoever in helping you out if you are threatened with court etc.  
Also they do not check if you debts are enforceable..  Yes it was good at the beginning, now 10 years in, and being pestered by Stake Your Claim, and giving them all my information.  I don't have an PPI's, and I don't want to pay a fee for information that I can get by myself from the company, which I have done, and found out that the debts were unenforceable.

They are out to make money, look who owns them

They ring and ask for someone who is not there.  If they tell the person who answers the phone that they are Payplan, then that person knows that the other person is in mountains of debt.  I wouldn't like them telling my parents, for instance.  I'm glad that they do this.  They've really helped me and my family - without them we would have lost our home.  I can't recommend them highly enough; unlike many of these debt management companies, they don't charge you a bean because they (as I understand it) work for the major financial institutions who are more interested in getting a small payment out of you each month than in having to take you to court and then maybe you go bankrupt and they don't get anything.  It's in everyone's interest to run a scheme like this.

This is Payplan - personally, they called me to inform me of updated balances as I am nearing the end of my payment plan. They've helped me greatly with repaying nearly £10K of student debt by having all interest frozen.

Happy to report that Payplan and Stake Your Claim have been absolutely brilliant with me.
I have had good advice by the bucketload from them and my tailored DMP is easily manageable. As has been said repeatedly they will not harass you if you state that you aren't interested in any of their associated operations.
The only slight let down I have had was from their finance division, Red Potato or Red Balloon, something Red anyway. Theiir interest rates were not competative for cars and not much better for household stuff.
At the end of the day, though, we are only involved with Payplan because of our own rubbish credit situations so cut them a little slack for offering extra help.

It's Payplan - may also be Stake Your Claim who are same group at same address. Not cold-calling, they had my phone number as I'm in a DMP.
Cannot recommend Payplan enough, I'm now two payments away from cleared debts after 7 years.

Incidentally, although I had a missed call as I was googling the number and finding this site they emailed me the information so they're not just marketing.

I have been with PayPlan now for almost five years and they have never once pestered me with anything other than being helpful and polite.    They do sell other products but I have never experienced any of their staff being pushy.  To put it bluntly, they literally saved  my life as had I not come across them, I would probably have resolved my debt problems in a more dramatic way.  And, just in case you think I am on their payroll, I am not!   Be fair to them - they do wonderful work.

Totally agree with Gem and all the positive things you said. I thought I was going to lose my house etc cos I couldn't afford the credit card debt but 3 years later I am still in my home and only 2 years left. Thanks Payplan :)
