Update: Lewisham trading standards are warning all business's of this rates scam on their website http://www.lewisham.gov.uk/news/Pages/Busines ... Q,SY5B3,2JVOK,1
I have already registered on the telephone preference service which is supposed to take 28 days to become effective. These cold callers can face fines of upto £5000.
There is a device on amazon that lets you cut these calls out:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/CPR-All-in-One-Call-B ... 7632554-5620032 which costs around £60 and has good reviews.
Hope that helps all of you. - Louise| 2 repliesThese people are absolutely CRAZY !!, they are trying to scam a very good friend of mine that doesn't understand english very well. They phoned her with their big speech, she told them that she did not understand them, but agreed to them sending the information, just to get them off the phone basically. Now she has been informed that she is in a legalally binding verbal contract with them and they are demanding the fee of £500.
My friend asked them to talk with me, as she was getting very confused. They did phone me and he was quite pleasent to start with, then when I questioned him , he got very defensive. I informed him that the business only has very little business rates as we live in an area where we get business rate relief. The guy that refused to give me his name was getting very aggitated and told me that I was being very rude to him, and for that he was going to add £150 to the bill and my friend had me to thank for that !!!! Before I could say anything he had put the phone down on me!!!
Alarm bells were ringing immediately, there and then I realised there was something wrong with this company and I am pleased to find that we are not the only ones.
I would be grateful of any advice.
Many thanks- Caller: IDBC
- WELL WISHER replies to Louise| 1 replyTell your friend not to pay anything and tell them them you'd rather see them in court. They will hound her but it does get better after a few months. If you can, report this company to your local trading standards.
As damanthescammers said, get a call blocking device following the link provided. Once they can't get through to your friend they will give up and try someone else. It will save you friends time.
Hope that helps you. - Louise replies to WELL WISHERThank you for your help. Will be reporting them.. Many thanks
- liz| 1 replyThey called my business, as i was away they spoke to a child who was on work experience, asking details of the owner, who obviously gave it, the next week i had a bill from them asking for money, as i had not spoken to them therefore did not know who they are, and was told that he had verbally entered a contract, if they are so clever and solicitors they should know contracts cannot be binded other than with the owner. They keep calling me and asking for solicitors details, i just put the phone down, today they called me 20 times and giving me different names of callers but the voice is the same all the time.

- sefi've just entered, im going to write to them today and cancel the agreement. (if i can)
- Well wisher replies to lizTry to ignore them and don't pay anything. I have got a call blocking device with the links provided by damnthescamers. It is very easy to use and just needs the caller id service to be activated on you phone. Once activated all they will here is silence and you will have peace and quiet from all these types of nuisance callers.
Hope that helps. - derek ellisplease send to me via email all letter and any legal documents they claim are from the court, misrepresentation of public figures is a crime.

- SANDRAI had a call from IDBC yesterday claiming that they could reduce my rates. I said my rates were fine but they were quite insistant. I told them I wanted to see details in writing before I agreed anything. They told me that they would send out information and if I didnt want to go ahead I had a 14 day cooling off period. I agreed they recorded my agreement to this. However today I received a letter stating they had already written to thhe valuation officer which was against everything I agreed. In the info it states if anything is received from the valuation Office I will be invoiced. I have emailed them straight away cancelling their services, which will get to them before the valuation office has a chance to come back but I know they will say they havent received the email I have also written to them by recorded letter. I know they will come back for the money but I am not paying I will contact trading standards tomorrow.
- ClaireCIDBC phoned me today luckily I was too busy to continue with call and asked her to call back later as I was genuinely interested in what she had to say - luckily I googled them and this is what I find. I stopped our convo before she could give me any figures so hopefully I will tell her I am not interested and that will be an end to it. Michaela Michaelson I think thats the surname. I will keep you informed when I get the follow up call.

- Mrs MuddThis lot just phoned me but withheld their phone number. They were claiming to be some business who worked with VAT and Inland Revenue. It sounds as if they may have changed tactics to try and frighten people. It's a sad fact that if you have any kind of website you are going to get calls from these scammers.
I put in a search as soon as I put the phone down and no surprise, I found lots of posts on different sites from people who were being threatened by this lot.- Caller: IDBC
