- Insider. replies to CathIf you have not signed any written contractual form then the aggrieved PageHog must prove that you have an outstanding balance before a Magistrate.
PageHog MUST prove that you have agreed to all extra charges.
In cases of 1 v 1 Magistrate as a rule sides with consumer.
Offer PageHog only the original agreed amount and do it in writing sent by Recorded or Registered mail.
Likelihood is that PageHog will NOT wish to persue to Magistrate attention as they are liable for costs and compensation if they lose.

- R.P.SI was contacted by a company called pagehog and marketing salesman Antony Roper he was talking about an advertising campaign for my business guaranteeing my company on the on the first page of Google, I was working at the time of his call which lasted around 25 minutes, I told him I would not make decision today and wanted to look into the company pagehog’s web-site, he then puffed and said fine he will contact me the next day, later on in the evening I checked out the site and I had a few questions to ask him should he call me the next day.
Antony Ropa from pagehog phoned and proceeded with his sales pitch about this advertising campaign and proceeded to be very pushy with the sale, after I asked him a few questions like what would be the 10 key phrases he would use, he replied he could not give that information to me, because if I was to type them into Google’s search bar I would lose credits, even though it was NOT a pay per click advert Antony was talking about, also he did not give me price’s for me to choose from he just said that most pluming company’s start with around £280.00 a month I said that price was too much for my budget, then he said you can pay the minimum payment of £75.00 a month including a one off payment of £30.00 set up fee, I felt he did not answer my questions to my complete satisfaction so as I read on their site there was a 5 day cancelation period, so I thought I’ll give it a go, he told me that once I agree to pay the sum of £123.38 my business would be live on the first page of Google within 48 hours, so I took him on his word and I agreed, then I was e-mailed the following attached invoices, I was not given any documentation until I paid up front.
I phoned pagehog on my home landline and spoke to Antony Roper again and told him that I have not seen my company’s advert on Google yet, and he said he would look into it and he would phone me back later on in the day or first thing in the morning, he never did, so at this point I was unhappy to proceed with this subscription and decided I would like my money refunded.
I wrote a letter to pagehog following their cancelation procedure and sent it first class post in the morning of the 15/07/10, even though pagehog’s cancelation procedure does not comply with the distance selling regulations 2000.
I phoned pagehog and spoke to a man who took my call, he did not give his name I told him I wanted to cancel my subscription and could he do this now as I told him I want my money back, he said oh ok and he asked for my Client ID so I gave it to him, he said he could not do this now someone will call me at some point, so I said will this be today he answered I’m not sure, so I told him I wanted to be contacted by the end of the day.
I phoned my solicitor and requested legal advice on the above as I had lost all confidence in trying to settle this dispute amicably.
My advise don't deal with this company, I feel so stupid with myself that I gave this guy so much of my time I should of just hung up within the first 2 miniutes of the call.- Caller: Pagehog

It's all true and they seem to do it to everyone. Interestingly after I extricated myself from their clutches I was cold called by another individual running a similar business. While trying to sign me up he listed chapter and verse as to why Pagehog have it all wrong.
Turns out he was a former Pagehog employee who seems to have access to their client list/
I was very disappointed with how they treat people. Somehow you come to expect higher standards of behaviour from British companies. Naive I suppose. - gavin| 2 repliesI was tempted and said i would give it a try for one month only. I have recieved no evidence yet that they did anything for me.
I awaited a activation email as promised by them at 48 hrs and still waiting.
Since then i have been told the promotion has been suspended due to un paid bill which i never agreed but would still incur a charge.
I have sent a cancellation recorded delivery as requested and tonite i recieve another reminder that ive entered another month
They are truly shite. I was going to fax the cancelation but the number didnt work and the rude chap on the other end sounded like hed just left arrogance school.
Ive not even recieved any invoices sincee the first payment so how the hell do they expect me to pay anyway.
Im not bothered what they do I will not be paying them anymore cash and if im correct under contract law you are entitled to read it in full but as they request payment there and then you cant read it!!! until after you paid.
I think i could hold them in breach of any supposed contract due to the fact i recieved no activation email.
Ill happily take a judgement and see them in court- Caller: pagehog
- CMT replies to gavin| 1 replyPAGEHOG are cowboys.
Like so many others, I accepted their trial period and allowed them to advertise on my behalf for 3 months - During this time I called a number of times to advise them that my advert wasn't showing. It would then appear for a day or two and disappear again!
THE REAL ISSUE :- I read their terms of cancellation and sent a cancellation email to cancellations@pagehog.com .... thinking that was an end to it.
I then received my usual monthly email from them telling me that my account was suspended but would continue to accrue a debt.
I called and asked what they were charging me for - since they had stopped my advert (as requested in my cancellation) - I couldn't get a sensible answer from them. - Again I told the guy CANCELL MY ACCOUNT.
8 months later - I was still getting the email, every month and every month I called and told them my acount was cancelled and closed - their reply .. it's cancelled but still accruing a debt !!! I still couldn't get them to tell me what they were charging for.
Yesterday, I received a letter from Direct Rout Debt Recovery advising me that I am due PAGEHOG £896.95. I called the debt agency and askred them to pass on my response to PAGEHOG ......
They are getting NOTHING from me and please ask them to take me to court ... I will crucify them.
AVOID PAGEHOG AT ALL COSTS - THEY ARE COWBOYS, CON-MEN AND OPERATE A TOTAL SCAM.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED - Pagehog| 3 repliesThis is supposed to be a site about unsolicited calls however some people seem determined to utilise it as a tool to discuss products and services.
I have no desire to trade blows with anybody on here however I see the same most frequent issue raised is with regards cancelling an account and feel this has gone on too long without making some comment in our defence.
Firstly, don't believe everything you read. A number of these so called complaints, anonymous and otherwise, are made by competitors and ex employees, often people whom have been let go.
Our cancellation policy is to receive cancellations in writing. This is clearly shown in our terms and conditions of service and any client who calls or emails wishing to cancel the service is given clear instruction to cancel in writing. We advise people to send recorded delivery for their peace of mind.
Pagehog is a budget service, many of the systems are automated, unlike our competitors we charge no set up fees of any kind on day one so we are only profitable as a result of clients continuing to work with us over a period of time. The only action we ever request clients to take upon themselves is that in the instance they do see the need to cancel, to provide us with a letter. We even allow people to pause their account when cancelling to avoid accruing further debt if they are in communication with us.
I can provide testimonials from hundreds of happy clients (and thank the existing clients whom have shown us their support on here).
In the same more unfortunate respect I can also provide evidence of our succesfully pursuing people through court for unpaid fees and clawbacks. If we were unable to stand by our terms and conditions of service we would simply not be in business.
The clients we find the best results from are the ones who communicate with us, follow our advice and are committed to continue improving their campaigns over time. Marketing is a process not an event. On the flipside of that coin there are some clients who want to pay little, do nothing and wait for the phone to ring, with these clients we sadly enjoy less success.
As a matter of policy we try and call all clients on a monthly basis to take action an try and build a relationship however it is suprising how many businesses who are actively marketing on various forums both online and offline DO NOT ANSWER THEIR PHONES. Strangely these are often the same clients who claim that marketing doesn't work.
It will also come as a shock that the clients who spend no time communicating with us, are often the same clients who contact us after 6 months having not noticed they have been paying for our service. As well as being covered in our terms and conditions, surely their own credit card or bank statement should have made them aware the minute that another payment came out, so why only take action after 6 months?
All complaints are looked at individually, and we go out of our way to try and resolve issues amicably wherever we can, however the one instance where we are always going to find a difference of opinion is when clients want refunds. People fail to realise/accept that the majority of money paid to Pagehog is re-destributed to Google for their marketing, therefore a refund doesn't just mean not making money, it means Pagehog physically paying for all our clients marketing, receiving nothing and also not billing for any of our time.
Clients who are prepared to look at things objectively and compromise usually either leave happy or stay on board with us, often for alternative or improved services.
However I appreciate due to automation, in some cases a breakdown in communication can occur, this comes with the territory when operating a volume business therefore if you have had an issue and would like to contact me through our website www.pagehog.com with a contact number and prefered time to call, quoting reference WCM99 I will do what I can to try and help us reach a mutually agreeable conclusion.
Finally, since this is Who Calls Me, we call from selected pools of screened data. Anybody who requests no further calls is not only logged in our system but also sent to IT so ultinately their number can be physically barred to prevent any further calls, we don't want to call people who don't want to hear from us.
Wishing you all every success,
Regards,
