I had a big bill (£5.78) for having rung this number and have spoken to Vodafone about it.  This is the number you should ring from a landline, from a mobile ring 191 only.  So those messages you all received should be OK.  I 'm so glad that I've discovered what I did and they kindly reimbursed the money.

Got a text from this number 08700700191, "From Vodafone:  We have amended your address as per your instructions today."  Strange, I thought, I haven't asked them to do anything and I would do it online.

15 seconds later, a call comes in from a Private number from someone who knows my name and tells me it is Vodaphone and they have had something wrong happen to several customers and that I may get a text, but to ignore it.  They would like to aplogise and send me a small reward.  I thought it sounded like a scam, so said to forget it.  But I thought afterwards that they would then get my address, having already got my name and phone number.  Googling the number of the text produced this board.  Lucky escape, I think!

Checking even further, Vodafone don't use snail mail any more and I can't even see my address on my on-line Vodafone account.

About 2 weeks ago I got this text through- it simply didn't sound right to me, so I looked it up- and ended up here (as usual). Following this advice, I ignored the message.
Then yesterday I got cut off! The instructions were to call the number as above- yet this number was cut off as well! (Sheer brilliance).
I finally found a 191 number that connect, and got through to a person- and yes, it is Vodafone and it is for real....
No phone call, no letter, just a text then another one to say you have been cut off.
I have had this account for about a year, always paid the bills etc- but was still cut off (right in the middle of the RSPCA accusing me on animal cruelty as the dog was asleep in the car on his blanket for 2 hours in October...!) .

I am a Vodafone customer and called them back on my pay monthly phone - AND WAS CHARGED!!!

Then why has it cost me so much when I didn't even call it and am not a Vodafone customer?

I got the same as above on a Sunday....seems a bit iffy to me, since no one works on a sunday and when you call the number, whilst it puts you through to vodafone it tells you the phones arnt answered on a sunday.. very clever system if it is actually vodafone. \sarcasm

got a msg from this number,i thought its a spam,then recieved an email too confiming i bought a blackbury 24 mnths contract n my addres has been changed.............called fraud department n sorting it out

I am on the Vodafone no marketing calls list . I have been told explicitly by Vodafone that I will not receive any marketing calls from them and that if I do receive any marketing calls from people purporting to be from Vodafone then they are not from Vodafone and to hang up immediately . I received a call from 0808 0000 128 , after the man claimed he was from Vodafone I hung up , he \ they then texted me from 0870 0700 191 - which I then ignored . I strongly suggest - assume that it is not Vodafone and ignore it - by far the safest bet !!!

It is Vodafone customer services.  The reason this seems to be a scam to so many people is because Vodafone are not only tax dodgers to the sum of £4billion, they are also useless.  Avoid them like the plague.

Is this because they never do what you want and give you free money, as for the tax didge, your talking shite, maybe you should start your own mobile compay and take away jobs and business from the UK.

I to have been billed for this number as a premium rate call. i havent even called this from my mobile as im with tmobile. it was also 08700700191. this has happen for the last 2 months of my billing.

This is Vodafone number - i have checked it on the Vodafone website and called them to fix some problems with unconfirmed address (i got a text from this number)

I was having issues with this number as I had been charged for calling it 7 times in the space of an hour at £3.60 each. I came to realise that it was the Vodafone customer service number, BUT ONLY FOR NON-VODAFONE CUSTOMERS. I am a Vodafone customer and was simply ringing the wrong number. Stupid stuff on my part :L

Very glad I didn't listen to some of the doom-sayers in this thread. I ust had a message from this number telling me my details had been changed.

I came here, and momentarily thought nothing of it, but decided to give 191 a call anyway.

Turns out someone has called up Vodafone and tried to change my address details, and now my account is locked down while they investigate fraud.

So, this number is definitely not a scam. Though I'd still call 191

If people from vodafone are receiving these texts it must be a scam! I also have had a text saying a there's been a delay with the new phone i've ordered and sincere apologies for the delaly and if i had any queries to ring this same number, about 5 minute later i received a new message saying my order had been dispatched :/ i am not a vodafone customer never have been and  no one in my household.

I can confirm this is a genuine premium rate number supplied to scammers by Vodafone and Vodafone is sharing the revenue from the pointless calls you guys are making to this number.

I received a message saying my Direct Debit had been set up. Should I be worried? Do i need to contact vodaphone to see whats going on?

I went on holiday and my phone was not working. I got a txt from this number saying my mother wanted to ring me. Was a little freaked out but couldn't call back coz my phone wasn't letting me call or txt. I'm on pay as u go and I needed passport before I could txt or ring someone, but I still couldn't ring this number bk for some reason

why am I being billed for this number?? I don't remember using it??
