These guys are scammers? They offer to remove your name from calling lists - which is free in the UK - but they want to charge!

They tried to charge me £35 for removing my number from calling lists. (needless to say they were told where to go.)
Removing your name from these lists is done FREE. Do not pay for it.

I hated the way these guys rang me and tried to sell me their 35 pound service to stop exactly what they are doing themselves. There is the free service TPS but im registered on it and still get calls. I now use a CallBlocker check it out here -

I recently registered with a Call Prevention Registry Service which I understandd to be a free service. A phone call was recieved and a discussion took place as to how the service was to be applied. I was aked for thirty-something quid. I hung up.

Guys this is an absolute scam...and I am living proof (scammed for 150 pounds)

Let me give you further info on these guys:

They were previously registered as Alpine Investments and marketed .eu domain names. Now I fell for their gimmics of registering me for a .eu domain. After they took 150 pounds off me they ran off with the money, I never received my requested domain name. Subsequently they rebranded to Call Prevention Registry (callpreventionregistry.co.uk) . After this they never returned any of my emails or calls. This is what they do - they attempt to legitimise their fraud by rebranding after they have taken enough suckers like myself for a ride.

I urge you all never to be conned by these crooks. I've decided to forgo the small claims court as it will cost me another 60 pounds to raise the dispute, but I feel that by exposing these crooks on these forums will do enough damage to their creditability.

I don't know why previous comments think this is a scam. It is indeed the Call Perevention Registry and I have paid a one off charge of £35. I can truly say that since I have done this nuisance calls have decreased. However any I do get I let them know and they deal with it. Should companies persist in calling I have been advised they can be heavily fined. The Call prevention Registry would deal with that side of it also. I do not know of any free service for dealing with this problem and neither will you find any on the internet. Belive me I have tried so please rest assured this service is not a scam and it works!! Definately worth £35.

All you whinging muppets make me laugh. I have been a customer of the CPR for a few years now. The charge protects 3 phone numbers and stops international calls aswell as UK calls. They are a very effective service and I haven't received a single nuisance call since being with them.

The TPS does not stop international calls (automated messages for example), that is why these guys charge.

I got given this number by virgin, my other half phoned it, and it just continually beeped, so i typed the number on google and it came up with scammers.  Preety disturbing seeing we got it from virgin.

Same thing happened to me been calling their other buisness H2OSwansea.com which if i remember was a dodgy car sales (01792 474099) but still no refund

By the way it is NOT a "ONE OFF CHARGE" they charge you the same every year. Why should you have to pay every year if it isnt a SCAM? Surely once your number is off the so called do not call list way do you keep paying every year?

the call prevention registry only contacts customers that register on the website. if you stupid people read the website properly along with the terms and conditions when you register you would know that its a chargeable service! why would you register your details on anything without reading terms and conditions first?????? you also receive an email confirmation to say that you will receive a call to set the service up!! so why are you all so shocked that the call prevention has called you! wierdos!!

To all you f-wits defending CPR...I assume you are all stupid f-ing &sshole employees of this dispicable little outfit of dimwitted vermin who work there because they couldn't get a job with McDonalds:-)) f-off back to the hole you crawled out of.

CPR= yet another crappy rip off excuse for a company.

this is no scam mate ive been on the t.p.s now for two years and i still get calls so i tried these and within a month my calls stopped, think ive had lik 5 calls in the last year

I used to work for the call Prevention Registry and in all honestly the only time this service doesnt work is when you are still putting your number into websites and things. The CPR dont actually remove your number from DO NOT CALL LISTS they send do not call lists Free to major telecommunications companys. By charging the customers it means they are able to offer it to companies free. As with the TPS they charge companies up to £3000 a year for it.

In this world you never get anything worthwhile for free.

I had call from this company the person who called told my wife she was from TPS my wife had filled in the form online with TPS and they called right on tea time as my wife was getting dinner she passed the phone to me to sort out and told me they were calling from TPS and about the fee to be paid so I gave her my card number not thinking it was a scam I informed the bank about and tried to put a stop on it but I was to late my loss I will be ringing them and calling at their offices WATCH THIS SPACE

Looks an interesting device but OptOutUk seem to charge for all sorts of services and I couldn't find a real address on their website - even in the T&C there is only a Bradford PO number.
Does the device realy work and is it a pain in actualy use?
