called me today - left no message - company called RMA - they collect for Virgin credit cards and their methods of collecting are very underhand - espcially if you tell them that you have paid it direct to virgin as they dont get a cut of the money then - very very rude

Sometimes also called NCO they have several other numbers just to confuse you.
Never give any details out, tell them that you will not give details out over the phone and they will have to write to you instead.
Then just put the phone down. They may try a few days later but keep telling them to write.
I believe this is a scam so beware.....

I got a call to my business number regarding one of my employees and they would not speak to me. They asked me to confirm the first line of my address. I told them if it is indeed a private business mater as they claimed then they could speak with me, the owner of the business, but they declined. I searched on the internet and found this thread shortly after.

Also got a call from these folk today, stating the call was very important and I should get back to them TODAY, they also quoted a reference number........
If they're a reputable company they should send out a letter not harass their "customers" over the phone constantly without stating their business!

    Dodgy indeed!

they're no dodgy at all. they are a collections agency for mbna and some other major credit cad company. when your late with a payment the credit card company hands it over to these. if your unsure about them rin your credit card company and pay them direct

I can confirm that they do indeed operate n behalf of MBNA - I spoke to MBNA tis morning, and they confirmed they are legit - apparently getting a text from these people does bring results.

yes they do work for MBNA,
i contacted both MBNA and RMA today after receiving a text message from RMA. They ask alot of intrusive questions that really put you at risk of breaches of personal security before they actually tell you who they are.
As i had found this string i knew already.
As the "problem" that I had was caused entirely by MBNA/ Virgin not setting up a direct debit i was furious to find that my account had been referred without my knowledge to RMA. At this moment in time a serious complaint has been sent to MBNA/ Virgin with regard to both how they handled my "case" and also the techniques used by RMA. Lets see what happens!

These people are terrible, I was made redundant in June and appiled for Payment Protection which is up and running.

I have called both RMA and Virgin many times and each time I get told sorry we will remove you from our system but then a day or two later, more text messages and more silent phone calls from them.

They don't listen to what you say and just keep on calling and texting!!!

Best thing to do is tell them to [***] and deal only with the company in question be it virgin etc.

Companies like these make money out of bullying people, stand up to them.

Not to be rude but the best thing to do is politely tell them to [***]. Otherwise, sadly you may upset an ass there who will just call you back until you respond.
The intrusive questions you mentioned are part of Data protection Act. In responce to similar issues, they have reviewed the questions asked.

Also if you ever recieve a call on some one elses phone for you - be advised some companies log any calls made to them and allocate them to your account as "yours". This does not include RMA but may include their clients. I was shocked to learn that.
I have no love for them, but are familiar with them.

I still get a minimum of three calls a day (They say it's only one) they leave pre recorded voice mails and human ones!!!

I have spoken to them and sent them a letter explaining my situation and that MBNA have been PAID by my Insurance Company due to me being redundant but they still call and text me.

I am at a loss what to do with this company now :(

RMA who collect for Virgin credit cards are now calling me everyday (mon-fri) asking me to make a payment as im 3 months behind on my card.
They are extremely underhand and ask questions about personal details.
I will making payment directly to my virgin card via the net, this way their underhand methods won't pay as they won't recieve their cut.
Companies like RMA should be allowed to even exist.
We are encouraged at school to ingore and report bullying, so lets do it.
    Ignore them!!!
If you're gonna pay, pay the company you owe money to directly, dont give RMA any commission!

    - why not Tim?  So that folk who are, by their own admission, 3 months behind on their credit cards can get away with it?

Do you realise that being 3 months behind will stay on your credit report for years - and it will make ALL your future credit more expensive (or might even stop you getting a mortgage, remortage or other credit in the future)?   You should be thankful to companies like RMA for pressurising you to pay up and save your credit rating from even further damage.

You owe their client's money - best to start living in the real world and not deluding yourself with your self-righteousness

"- why not Tim?  So that folk who are, by their own admission, 3 months behind on their credit cards can get away with it?"

Tom. No one is talking about getting away with anything. If RMA were serious about helping people to clear up their arrears then they would do so in a sensible manner in writing. Something that could then be produced in a court of law if necessary.

My Mother has received upwards of 10 calls from them in the last 7 days. So I can tell you that what they actually do is nothing more constructive than harassment and intimidation. Harassment which in this case constitutes a criminal offence. The account isn't even with my Mother. She has high blood pressure as it is and does not need condescending verbal derision from a company that should be stating their case to the correct person in writing in the first place. Rather than bullying third party's.

They do not deserve and they have not earned commission on any repayment. They do not have a copy of the original credit agreement and no money is owed to them directly, they are nothing more than piranhas.

Put them in their place, keep a written record of their every abusive phone call, report them to trading standards if necessary and arrange repayments with the original creditor.
