    Hi All,

I don't know why this wouldn't have worked for you. I have automated systems in place to automatically remove numbers. I only text numbers that have been entered via my website. This could have been any time in the last few years and not recently.

Some people have forgotten that they were on my website until I speak to them. The only other way that you may receive a text from me is if someone incorrectly enters their mobile number on my website and that incorrect number happens to be your number. This has happened. I can only apologise for this.

The only way that a received STOP text wouldn't work is if the actual text of the message you have sent in is incorrect. As this is an automated system you must type STOP correctly or it wont work automatically, however I manually go through all texts and remove people that have misspelled the opt out message anyway, so it should work.

Please try and send in STOP again to the most recent text (this is not vital) I have sent you. It will work.

If you reply to any text message received with STOP then your number will be automatically deleted from my system  (this is the cost of 1 standard rate text message, and not a premium rate service). If you do not want to text in then please email me.

If for some reason that does not work (which it will), and you would prefer confirmation from me about any matter, then please feel free to email or phone me, and I will resolve any enquiries as quickly as possible for you.

    Details are:

    Email: martin at martinbishopracing.co.uk
    Phone: 0844 4994539

Alternatively you can get in touch through my website contact form:

I hope this helps and would be happy to resolve any issues anyone is having.

I have been receiving your daily texts for a number of weeks now and I most certainly have NEVER signed up for them anywhere!  My partner is an ex gambler and got us into a lot of debt and I cannot condone gambling in any way.  I will be trying to remove myself from your list but if the website doesn't work can you please let me know how?!  I will not reply with STOP as I have been caught out in the past by doing this - it set something in motion which started charging my mobile bill for things i haven't done.

I think your partner may have used your phone at some point, that is the only way we will have your number in our database.

I can assure you that replying STOP will cost no more than texting one of your friends. Many people have texts allowances included in their phone contracts. It is an automatic process that opts you out of texts. That is why spelling STOP correctly is important. However I still go through all texts and remove people that have incorrectly spelt STOP or text in something like 'STOP!' or 'STOP......'

Otherwise email me direct via the website and I will make sure that your number is removed.

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

I have never signed up to your site and everyday I get your messages, everyday I forward them to orange's spam number wich is 7726.  I also use AVG anitivrus Pro which you can also forward disgusting unwanted spam.  It's funny, each time you send one of your texts the number shown is always different, yeah like that's good practice.   I won't be replying stop, most websites say do not reply to unwanted texts for various reasons, one reason is that if you reply stop then they know the number is live. Disgrace, you should be ashamed of yourself.  You're making people's pleasure with their phones a misery each time we get one of your texts.

Steve, how am I supposed to remove your number if you refuse to reply STOP? It is in my interest to remove people that no longer want advertising from me. Please email me and I will get the number removed.

First of all you could be anyone posting on here, so we really never know if it's the real mbishop.

    A) I shouldn't be on your list in the first place.

    B) I don't buy the idea that someone else put in my number.

    C) Why is your number always different, something to hide?

So any users on orange who want to report mbishop's unwanted spam please visit Orange's website, the spam number is 7726, you just forward it. You may need to include the number when forwarding, but as it seems to be different with each text then I wouldn't worry too much about that, so long it's being reported to orange then i'd hope orange take action at some point.

    The orange website is...

    http://www1.orange.co.uk/about/contact/spam/

Also if you're on a smartphone you may want to try sms blocker from the android market.

    https://market.android.com/details?id=com.sms ... bXNCbG9ja2VyIl0.

I believe that app can filter by keywords, but I've not tried it for long to know if it works well.

I will not be visiting your gambling site either, some sites can track who's been on their website with cookies and what not, I don't know if yours does this but I'm not taking the risk in having my mail inbox stuffed with more junk email.

Im sure vodafone and all the other companies have spam reporting pages, it's about time these phone companies did something about persistant spammers.

I don't know what to suggest Steve. I have a few different mobile numbers that I send texts from. They are all linked and if anyone replies STOP to any of my texts, ALL further texts will stop.

I understand if you have reservations about texting back. I can assure you all that will happen is that the texts will stop.

I have looked at the Orange site and it says:

Contact the company directly if you no longer want to receive messages.

You can do that via my website. I will confirm that I am the person writing this too.

I do not run a scam, I run a horse racing information service for people that want it. My company is correctly registered.

The only way that I will have your number in my database is if someone has incorrectly given their number as yours. This is obviously possible and is one of the reasons why there are various opt out procedures. As you are not willing to use any of them, I don't know what to suggest.

If you would like to contact me via phone, email, text or message via my website then this will take 2 seconds to sort out.

I found this thread after getting daily texts. I do vaguely remember going on to his site a few years back, the texts have only just started again though.

I replied STOP a few days ago and the texts have stopped!...

The orange website also says don’t reply to the spam message or call the number in the message as you may be charged a premium rate.

Even if I'm not charged premium for sending stop, why should I pay my network charge for an sms when I've never signed up.

There's too many people complaining about your spam, I can't imagine for one second that loads of people go to your site and enter other people's mobile number, that's just a sorry excuse, I wonder if you have the ip address of every number entered via your site.

Im done wasting my time with this, just to say I'll be doing my best to report your spam.

Btw the app I mentioned earlier (sms blocker) works great so at least I won't be bothered by your spam.

Don't gamble, it's a mug's game, the only one's who get rich are bookies and premium phone lines.

Save your cash, report the trash.

    Hi Steve,

It is easy to find out if a text number you are about to reply to will charge you at a premium rate. If you are in doubt then ask your mobile provider. It will only cost you the same as texting a friend.

Also, as explained, there are other ways to contact me that are free.

If you are not willing to use any of them, then there is no way for me to remove you. I will have to wait for Orange to contact me at which point you will be removed.

Input errors account for less than 0.01% of the mobile numbers in my substantial database collected over the years via my website. It sounds like your number is one of these. I would love to sort this out for you but you are making it impossible for me.

    Thanks

Texts started recently again, I had a trial of his service a while back after going on his website.

Tried calling him as didn't want to text back. I have left Martin a message to be removed.

    Lets see what happens tomorrow!

I got a call back within half an hour which was a bit of a surprise.

Martin was helpful and says that he recently added some old numbers from a while back. That unfortunately included me.

All got sorted very quickly and easily, not sure why people on here have found it so difficult.

I got these a couple of years ago and finally they stopped, then started again a couple of weeks ago.  Both times they were completly unsolicted as I have absolutely no interest in horse racing and have never heard of Martin Bishop or his website.  When I got them initally (a couple of years ago) I naively tried texting STOP and it didn't work, although the texts did dry up eventually of their own accord.  This time I'm just reporting them to 02 as spam on 7726.

Ask yourself this question - if this is all above board then why are we all on here complaining about it and why are texts always sent from different numbers making them harder to block?

Its not a case of finding it difficult, it should be easy if it's just a case of sending stop.  But my experience with spammers is that it often doesn't work, by replying you're actually saying your number is a live number, thus it's more valuable to them.

I have umpteen phone numbers from his spam, that in itself is a warning.

These are the numbers ive had off him, these are only some of them, i have deleted other sms's so I suspect list is far from full but here's some...

    447749251508
    447842254612
    447938820941
    447749249812
    447840347949

We all know it's possible to fake sms numbers using some apps.  Wether he's doing that or really has that many phones, time will tell.

You spam using multiple phone numbers, you come across on here as mr good all willing to help, but most see through you for what you do. But like others have said we NEVER signed up to your disgusting shoddy spam, wouldn't suprise me if some of the positive posts were fake.

You've never given a reason why you use multiple phone numbers, just the mere fact you're resorting to using multiple phone numbers is telling enough.

    Hi Guys,

Simple fact is that if you text back STOP to any of my texts they will stop. They won't start again from another number.

Otherwise you can email me, which is free.

"The only other way that you may receive a text from me is if someone incorrectly enters their mobile number on my website and that incorrect number happens to be your number. "

In which case you are liable to anyone signing up anyone else - this is verging on being illegal and spamming.

You have no system in place that proves that the number receiving the text has actually requested it. This is inherently wrong, and does actually make you spam friendly. The way to prove it is to send a message to that mobile number and then they have to reply with a tokenised response to say that they want your messages. Otherwise you delete the number after an hour.

You should stop this immediately, because now people know this - they can sign up anyone.

With regards to his earlier comment where he says he has a few different mobile numbers, I thought I'd add another one of his numbers to the ever growing list... I found it in my spam sms box, the app is called smsBlocker, can filter his crap by keywords.

    447842248361

    So now we have...

    447749251508
    447842254612
    447938820941
    447749249812

Mbishop has said the following in a previous reply...

"I have a few different mobile numbers that I send texts from."

    End quote.

Latest number from his spam to the ever growing different numbers...

    447749251508
    447842254612
    447938820941
    447749249812
    447840347949
    447842248361
    447781470636

Has anyone tried calling one of them?
