I just got called from this number. and ask me to ring them on the said number. but i do not have any debt to anyone except from bank. ref number is 545851.

I think it is scammed.

Company called EC Credit Control.
Once they establish that you are contactable by phone they will go ahead and harass the hell out of you 24/7 with calls & threats regardless of whether or not a debt is legit.
They do a lot of work for insurance companies, they get the job when the insurance company has paid out for motor vehicle repairs but has insufficient details to prove that you were at fault. The idea is that they "scare" you into paying with unfounded threats about legal action.

They are bound by Debt Recovery Guidelines so:
- Advise that you are not the person and request calls no longer be made
- If already identified deny debt and request and and all contact by mail

These people do record calls so it is important you advise that you "do not consent to the call being recorded".

These guys are the dregs of the debt recovery business, dont ever give them any information or make any suggestion that you acknowledge the debt

Yes I got a call from 1300 961 916 and they left a message to call St John Of God Pathology by friday and quote a ref number.

I just received a call from a private number asking for my boyfriend. They said their name was Jenny and that they wanted him to call back (as he wasn't available) on 1300 961 916. I asked who the company calling was and she said Allianz insurance. What the hell.

I got the same message with some name accompanied by an anonymous phone call which ends the second it starts.
Strange thing is that I got a letter too from ec credit controll saying that I owe Avis australia money despite having never been to Australia.
The letter came from new zealand where I also have never been.
Im from middle europe and have no idea how they got my name, adress, number.

I tried calling back once and no one answered on the other end

Got this call several times, left me voice mail, asked me to call 1300 961 916 and send me sms 0428 429 020 to call them back. The company is ec credit control. I just ignored and blocked the numbers. Scammer!

They called me as well and said I have debt to Avis and they are asking my private information, when I refuse they said they can not discuss the issue with me. I told them to "off". I told them "If Avis has any issue ask Avis to call me". I called Avis and they told me they had no issue with me. (we had to cancel two bookings due to Covid restrictions.) These people are very annoying and they said that they will continue calling me until I give my personal information.
