The message was completely unsolicited and I object to being charged for something I did not ask for

I received an SMS message about mobile games update.  I did not request it, did not sign up for them, did not respond to the SMS message, and was charged for the pleasure of them sending me something I did not want (their communication).  If I wanted to purchase something I would instigate the purchase.  Why do these people get real jobs instead of scamming money out of those of us who do work hard for our money.

Got charged 6 dollars for something called booty call. Rang my provider Optus which they waved it but that's not the point why are this scam people allowed to get away with it. It's been over a week and I've been ringing there number 1800302038 and it keeps saying disconnected. How can I get in contacted with this people to find out why they charged my phone as I also send them an email without getting a reply.

These "scum of the earth" people stole from my Vodafone mobile account. How did they get my number as this is very much a private phone used only for emergencies? Apart from the phone company, I'm the only one who knows my number; so I'm guessing they and the scammers are equally guilty.  (The more credit you use the more you have to spent to buy more credit).

You've repeatedly called their number, oh no !, how many times do you want to be ripped off by them ?!!!, AND, you gave them your email address, prepare for scam and spam emails. ! Never call those types of numbers or callers, just put the phone down or if they leave a message gust delete it. Do you really think that they will get into an email chat about ripping you off. ?!

Was checking my phone account usage (Vodafone) and noticed a $6 excess charge for a "premium text" and realised I'd received the message an hour or so earlier which stated, latest mobile game updates here (with a link) and to reply stop to quit. I immediately replayed stop and then received "free msg: you have been removed from this service, mobile affiliates help 1800 etc.
I never subscripded to such thing, in fact I never use my person number to sign up to anything, I actually use a random prepaid for anything like that. Absolute joke, don't understand how I received this? So I googled and found this site and thought I'd shared my experience in detail.

What? They said bad luck, really!!!    As you contract is with  Virgin and this practice has been reported to them as fraudulent they have a duty of care to you as their customer and as they are the company passing on your money to the these fraudsters they become complicit within that fraud. Do not roll over on this, as by default, they as your carrier are as guilty . Contact  Phonepay ( part of Ofcom) and they will sort this out.

I noticed this charge on my last phone bill but let it slide, then to see it again this month, I decided to take action.  Found out from Vodafone that it's Booty Call, which I didn't sign up for, and I don't remember getting a text from them either, unless I deleted it??  Anyway, Vodafone was great, refunded me the money from both bills.  Told me to ring the 1800 number, which I did, only to get a recorded message asking me to leave my number...I don't think so.

I called Virgin and they refunded the money and barred the number for me. Suggest you call them back as they are probably now 'more aware' of this scam and have procedures for dealing with it. They could see that I hadn't called the number to 'subscribe'.
