I get calls from this number to access my account

got a call from this phone number 202-455-8888 and it freaked me out so i need help trying to find out who this is

keep getting calls from this number

who talking me? computer or human?

First I got a text  message asking me if they could call me about a Craigs List ad.... I responded with what post? and Who is this? a minute later, I got a call from the 202 455 8888 asking me for a "verification code"... it then proceeded to leave messages on my voice mail, "I'm sorry, I didn't catch that... please enter the 2 digit verification code your were given" FOUR TIMES... both numbers are now on the auto reject list

Someone is accessing one of your accounts that you have set up to receive a verification code if logged in from a different browser.

I started getting calls from this number a couple of weeks ago, and often late at night. Voice recording says its Google with an access code. But the phone number they are calling me on is not listed in any of my accounts. I am guessing someone mis-typed my phone number when they signed up for gmail or something. Unfortunately, not much I can do - since that person being locked out of their email prevents them from correcting their phone number.

202-455-8888 is google verification, it is trying to port your number from your carrier to google voice.

Same here, did you put in the code they gave you? Like an idiot I did, what was that for and why did they want me to do that? Do they have access to contents to my phone now or something?

it is a legitimate system but being used to scam you. sye im gonna set up a google voice account but i dont have a phone. i look up someones ad on cl and find a phone number i can use. now, not only do i have an active number, but a way to contact that number with purpose. just got to trick them into entering the code when Google voice calls them right after i enter their number. if thdy dont fall for it, someone else will. then you can call, text and scam others for free. not to mention your number could wind up connecting to criminal activity. need to spread the word. fast.

So is there any way to stop them after you have already put in the 2 digit code?

Dear People;  this is GOOGLE VERIFICATION number!  If you got this call from google, they phoned to send you a verification code for changing your password.  If you did not change your password, do it NOW.  Otherwise, you are hacked, and you'll be locked out of your own information.

This was google verifying you tried to change your password.  You have been hacked, it seems...  Good luck with it.

I had an item for sale someone texted me from a # and asked if they could call then then told me to enter a two digit # and they are calling me from 202-455-8888
