Got a call just now too. Rented from Enterprise about two weeks ago, so I'm wondering if this is how they got my number.

I said "Hello" once and after no response for several seconds, I hung up the phone and searched online for comments. After 10 minutes, no other calls.  I will update if I receive another call from this number.

I got a call but did not answer it.  I called it back to see who it was (blocked my number of course!).  The greeting was something like "this voice mail subscriber has not set up their voice mail".   I have seen other posts that say when they answered it said "you won a cruise".   I can assure you all that this is a typical tactic and game done by network marketing companies in the travel business.  they are taught these games by the company (upline) they sign up under.   They purposely don't have the voicemail set up so that they don't have to be bothered by anyone.  Their intention is not to talk to anyone in this step of the game.
Many who do this also have auto dialers and can generate repeated calls to hundreds of numbers in a fast amount of time.  They just keep recycling so you will get repeated calls.    Auto dialers are designed to respond when someone answers a phone with "yes".   If your message is "you have reached" or some other message on your voice mail, the system won't recognize someone answered.   This is how you get calls but no messages.
If you were ever in ANY net work marketing business or ANY multi level business, that is probably how they got your number.   Many of the people in those type of businesses jump from one to another but re-use their contacts.   Also, companies that combine numbers for reselling purposes, called "lead lists" (used in network marketing) gather numbers from being a part of multi level companies.   Many times these lists are created by people who ONLY join net work marketing companies to have access to the numbers of those involved.
I would report them to the "do not call" registry.
One word of warning:  Many times you are called for a company or scam to CONFIRM it is an active number.  DON'T call it back with identified number (block your number).   Please know that many times when you even get a text and it says "if you do not want to receive further texts, please reply "stop"" that the auto system calling you does not know if it is a valid number.  But if you DO RESPOND...it knows it reached a valid number, thus you become part of a leads list or your number is then used for whatever purpose (spam, scam, etc) that was intended.
I hope this helps you or others who read this.

see my longer message for more details...but if you used a private person for booking (looks like it by the name), then they are part of a travel multi level marketing company.

Yes, I received the call too about an all expense paid cruise for two on my cell phone.  I normally don't answer unidentified call and I didn't recognize the are code either but in this case I did answer and I was to press 1 to complete the survey to get my tickets for the free cruise or 2 to be removed from their calling list.  I pressed 2.  Like so many of you, I also am on the national Do Not Call list but that only works if solicitors check the list and abide by that.  Legitimate companies do that but so many other companies don't give a darn, especially if they are not based in the USA and could care less if you're on the National Do Not Call List.  I always believe in the old saying "If it's too good to be true, it probably is".    I'm curious though, if anyone completed the survey and what kind of junk mailings did you receive in return?  Thanks for posting!

I got a hang-up call from this number yesterday, and I'm on the do not call registry.  It's amazing that this web site has catalogued so many complaints this month alone.  I hope the people behind this scam are imprisoned for this illegal activity.

    Yesterday, I received a call from 202-465-5586
    Today it was from 321-250-8481.
Neither of them gave any information, however, when researched online, both numbers appear to use the same technique of "you've won a free cruise".

My personal speculation: they are either investigators trying to insidiously obtain information to find someone for collection purposes, or they are simply using auto-dialers and making note of the "active" phone numbers so they can sell your number in the future.

My personal recommendation: stop answering phone calls from numbers you don't know.  If it's an important call, they'll leave a voice mail.

    Annoyed!!!
Got a phone call (3:03pm) from an out-of-state number that I didn't "know" or recognize.
(Does this mean that they are involved in Interstate Fraud?)
They, of course, left no message.
As always, I didn't answer, but looked up the number here.

I am on the National Do-Not-Call List, and have been for over a couple of years now.
(I guess this is our government at work for us.)

    I'm going to
    http://www.fcc.gov/complaints
    AND to
    https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx
and see if that can get the government to work for me, and stop these calls.
(Yes I will go through all those steps.)  [I have also bookmarked these URL's.]
I have also assigned a silent ringtone to this number.  (I am up to 62 now.)
    We should all pile on.

Called and I didnt answer - unknown no.  No VM. Obviously another scam TM call. We average 5-8 calls a week like this - guess they all feel safe from Caller fines nowadays. Most are robocalls - recorded message. Glad I have a phone that allows me to block unwanted calls, but I'm already at the 30 limit!!
