I received a blocked call today from a woman with am accent that stated her name was Joan Newton. And that I was chosen to receive a government grant of 8,000. Age said I have to go to the nearest western union with 1.cellphone 2.id 3.$200 for a deposit that will be returned. SCAM!  they called it Federal Grant Dapartment. Joan Newton was the name she told me.  Call back # was (202) 621-0241. If you received a call like this you should report it to the Western Union Fraud Department 1800-448-1492. So maybe they can catch some of those theives.

My boyfriend just got one of those calls today lucky for me he asked if he should do it and i told him to give me the number so i can look it up and omg look at what I have found thanks everyone for posting comments so other people can know that this is a scam,this people need to be reported and stopped.....

I was call about government grant, I was selected for a personal grant that they give once a year. Gave me address :200 independence ave,southwest, Washington. D.C.20201. Name :Daniel Wong call back#2026210512and money #. Pay onetime fee$150.00 thru western union. Scam!!!!!!!!!!

I need to know how they got my number who got straight talk that sounded to good I'm just bout call her and bank thank u God for y'all sharing he gone fix for who they played

Same thing here just an updated version. It was a guy named Austin (who's accent was so thick I could barely understand him) and the amount has changed to 7500 with a 250 deposit. also the number changed. now it's 202-436-9700. i asked for a company name or some way to verify this "amazing blessing" and he refused to give me any information. kept repeating the same thing over and over again. "We are from the gov grant dept. Not a company." reeeeally now? when i flat out told him i refused to take part in this unless he gave me a credible way to verify that this was not a scam, he told me that he was not a scammer and to think about this for a little while and call him back when i was ready for my money. yeah right. these people are vultures.

i received a call today saying the government has sellected me to receive $7,800.00. They said i need to bring 3 things to collect the money, cell phone, personal id# and $225.00. they said they are located at 200 independence ave, washihngton, dc 20201. the number they have you call is 202-580-8384.

I just got this call, but it was from Benny Brown and the number was 354-879-5865. Same deal though, and when I told him this sounded like a scam he got all offended and started yelling at me. I'm quite sure these are fake names, and although he claimed to be calling from Washington DC, even gave me an address, he then proceeded to ask me what the current time was in Massachusetts. They are definitely not calling from America. Also.. I definitely don't always pay my bills promptly. So that was bull too.

I was called by the same people but they have changed there number 202-657-4439 thanks u for your time and support. They told me they will give me a grant of 7500$ and all I had to do was open a western Union and deposit a 200$ and I would get my Money in 15 mins.

I got a call today sayin the same thing but they said they goin send my money to my house and they already had my address

I got a call today saying I was gettin 9,000 in free government grants she directed me to alice paikster now alice advised me to go to western union and deposit 150 dollars for the redcross as a processing fee before I could receive my grant which I would be getting in the next 30 to. 40 minutes after they received the money I went to western union she stayed on the phone the whole time she told me to send it to vietnam luckily I had a family member there that told me to hang up its scam she also called from202-684-3436 everyone please know that if anyone calls u and wants u to send money before u receive money that is suppose to be free its a SCAM…

Hey,I've recieved the same phone call as everyone else,Different number this time.(202)407-9059.
They told me I've been selected to recieve 7,500 and to go to western union and make a deposit of 271.00.
I asked why do I need to send money just to get money,the guy said so we can make sure thats its you we are sending this money too.I asked for a certified copy in writing,he then quickly caught an attitude and hung up.So beware people and pay close attention to the number because they are constantly changing it.

I just recieved a phone call from the phone number 530-559-1657 it was a guy by the name of Brett Walker he told me that the federal government randomly chose my number to recieve $7500.00 I had to call another manager Give the a Code KS407  before he let me go he had my address already and Birthdate and how i wanted to recieve the money western uninon, putting it on my credit card or debt card, direct deposit into my bank accocunt i choice western union.  Then i called 202-684-6935 a lady came on the phone her name was Tracy she said i would have to go to the Western Union call when i get to the parking lot and she would give me all the information to recieve the money but first I need to pay $289.00 and I would recieved that back so I am assuming this would be they get bank number credit card #s I called back told her my concerns she said it was 100% lagit.

They have changed the number they have been using it is 202-200-0018 and then they tell u to call anna Jones at 202-738-4370 it just happen to me today instead of western union she was saying 190 fee was for a charity for the government

I recieved the same call from 202-779-8838.

First time told me I won 7800 and to go to western union

I just recieved a call from the same people. They asked for a card and I gave them a glorified gift card with 0$ ballance. When they asked if I could donate I called them on thier crap.

Hey to add to this.  The new name is Nancy Cooper. She is offering $9000 for a grant, you can do what ever you want with it. The number is 202-210-0054.  She said she was from the U.S. Treasury Dept.

This is a scam to so watch out!
