Thanks everyone!  Saved me a lot of headaches.  I was foolish enough to give him my contact info and ddi recieve a check which my bank told me to not deposit because they would have shut my account down for depositing a fradulent check thinking I was the one trying to scam them.  I have also turned him into the authorities.  He is using  tonypatrick@gmail.com.

I got almost the same email he wanted to send the check to my address then come get the car at a later date because he's busy at work, so I basically asked him if he can mail a check and get the car later then why nor drop the money off when he came for the car. No response :) he's an idiot.  Idk what we could do to stop him, but what about reporting to Craigslist

I got the same email from the same person on an item I listed.  I was suspicious also but any info he asked for was public record.  Also waiting for the check to clear or sending a cashiers check and that being cleared.  I'm not clear on his motivation unless by someone cashing the check he is able to gain more information?? I don't know.  Possibly it has to do with asking everyone to delete the ad knowing there is a 90 day wait period to run another??  Are all these ads from people living in the same area of the U.S. that he is responding too? I am in the southeastern U.S.

Although i've no idea if it will do any good.  Odds are this guy uses a public computer to put in his craigslist ads but maybe they'll get lucky.   Anyone else here should do it as well.
