How is this guy scamming you? Is he taking money from you or using your information? I am currently involved in a similar issue and would love to catch these people and put them in jail. Any information on how the are doing this would be helpful

I knew something was weird about this guy glad I googled his email and found this page thanks everyone for the heads up on this Scammer.

I posted an ad on Craigslist, and received this email: "Hello,

I'm ready to purchase it, honestly I know you're looking for someone who can pay cash for it but I also need to be cautious due to warnings from Craigslist. I have considered using a Bank Check for the payment. I'm in no rush with you until funds has been cleared or anything.

Once the check is received, deposited and everything clears my mover will come for pick up. Therefore, I urge you to provide your mailing information, your name, address, city, state, code with phone number to facilitate the payment. Every time I get something like this I Google it and find out it is a SCAM. No phone call, but the Perp has the same name! I replied and told him if he showed up I'd throw in a case of 1921 Dom Perignon, ... sadly I failled to include my address.

After posting a truck for sale on craigslist, I have also received many emails from this Barry Johnson.  Even after I told him that I believe he is a fraud and that I work for a local government agency and wasn't interested, that I was gonna sell to someone locally and for cash.  He still sent me a check.  I just received the check on Thursday, I believe it says it's from Chase Bank.  Needless to say, he responded to my email with the following response:  

I have repose my trust in you and hope that you will not disappoint me. I have contacted the US postal service this morning and was informed the mail is in transit to its destinations. According to the attendant, the mail will get delivered today or latest Tuesday morning via US postal service. Kindly e-mail me back when check has been received and deposited so that i can contact my bank for immediate approval to facilitate clearance in your bank. I'm in no rush with you till funds has been cleared in your bank. My bank informed me payment should clear in your bank within 1 to 3 business days. The additional funds will be for the mover that will handle the pick up. The mover will only be at your address once payment has been cleared.
