Scam! Nice young guy on the phone, telling me someone from Citi Bank Faurd Dept asked if someone opened a card in my name, asked if I ever lived in a state then and now (easy goggle info)  I said; I'd feel safer if I could call Citi Bank direct and what number- he gave 1-800-825-0393

    Seems like a phishing scam
Caller ID showed 210-677-1346.  Caller left a very credible-sounding message claiming to be a Citibank representative, and asking me to call 800-825-0393 or the number on the back of my card, regarding recent activity on my account.  They provided me with a reference number (1105, which seemed a little short).  They also left a virtually-identical message the same day on my home phone.  It's very disturbing that they have that much information about me.  I called the number on the back of my card twice, and each time Citibank confirmed that they had not called, and they verified that there was no suspicious activity on my account.

A female voice called stating she had activity on my acct and that she was from sears fraud accounts, I told her I did not have an acct with sears, she gave me a phone number for Equifax, she did not ask for personal information but what seamed strange is that she called my cell phone and not my home. I did call sears and have to call back Monday morning.

Call from fraud line for citigroup re: BestBuy acc't.    Using a VPN I had logged into my account to change email addresses and they picked up the odd sign in (VPN server located several states away) and called thinking possible fraudulent activity.  Not a scam.

The scariest scam. They tricked us with email, during the closing week of our new loan, uing our loan agent's name, signature, precise money number we were discussing, to wire transfer the amount of money we were paying off. Thank god we figured out it was a scam right after we wire transfered money, by talking with our agent, so we could cancel it. The next day, I received a phone call from this number, the man said he is calling from citibank, wire dept., and told me I have to call citibank to complete the wire transfer that is pending. It's so scary. They are doing their best with their best wits to scam you. Beware!

Called at 8 am PST. Called them back at 8:30 am. Their  voice mail said it was "City" and to call another #.  Obviously it's a scam.

It's legit.  My recommendation is to get the reference number voicemail and call the number on the back of your credit card.  Citi Card is a parent of many store credit cards, like Sears and Best Buy.  I called, and because I made a purchase at 4:30 am online, the purchase got flagged as possible fraud.  I would NOT trust a cold call, always call the number on the back of the credit card company.  In this case, it was legit, and they confirmed that the message was left by them.

I received a phone call today from this phone number also telling me that someone from Citi Bank Fraud
Dept. asked if we received a new credit card from them.  I did not give her any information except my email
address.  She said to give her the last number on the new card to verify the information.  I am glad that I
did not have the card to give this information to her.  Crooks always looking to steal people' identity.

Some of those calls could be from scammers, spoofing the number; but the number is a legitimate Citibank number from Citibank personal banking.  Regardless, it is best never to answer calls from unrecognized numbers.  Legitimate callers will always leave a message.

Had voicemail message from 210-677-1346 to call back and give Reference number they left.  Called, said it was CitiBank, prompted to give SSN, Card Number, etc.  Then person came on wanted card number, refused since I was calling them back giving reference number they gave me.  Called number on back of my Citi card and talked with Credit Card Fraud Dept and they said it was good I didn’t give my card number, as they showed nothing wrong with my account.  And another Citi Rep told me their numbers start with 1-8....
