A woman with a young-ish, Valley-ish accent called claiming to be from Manhattan Fire & Safety asking to set up an appoint to inspect a fire extinguisher. I misunderstood and thought she said install and guessed my housemate wanted to install one. She had an address and was ready to send someone, but then I started answering questions. She apparently got my information from a listing somewhere online for a company I used to have -- a company that does not even have a physical location. It was quite disconcerting. As other said, it was clearly a "cold" call in order to make it seem like I was due to do something that I never had to do. How dishonest. I said she had the wrong number and she hung up.
