This time they said they are calling from Computer Associates, I asked to be put on a DO NOT CALL list

Received a call and was left a voice mail.  My name was mentioned and in a high pitched sing-song voice stated something like "Is not some Chinese".  I thought this was ridiculous, so I asked a coworker to listen to the message.  He thought the caller said "Chinese" at the end.  But after reading some of the posts, it could have been "HP"

Then I received another call from the same number, but no voice mail was left.

214 269-4231

I didn't answer. This is the 2nd time today this number has called me.

Lady trying to pretend like calling from Microsoft, I asked her if she is calling from Microsoft then she should know who works where as it will be in your database. She panicked and hung up.

I had 5 missed calls from this number just while I was away from my desk at lunch. I called it back and it immediately goes to a voice response system that seems to interrupt itself to tell me that if I know my party's extension to dial it now.

It doesn't say a company name or have any introduction message whatsoever.

I figured this was a solicitation call when they didn't leave a message.  They have called me at least 6 times today and never leave a message.  Glad I googled the phone number before answering.

I get calls from this number informing me that I have a Symnantec product up for renewal.  I don't answer, but I they do leave a message.  They usually call about three times per product then go away for awhile.

I just got a call from this number claiming to be Symantec, calling about my expired anti-virus subscription (corporate edition).

It's a legitimate call, I'm from Rainmaker and we are handling different accounts using that single number because that is our only gate way to connect our calls from a remote location to our customers phonelines in the U.S. Anyway we are giving the right callback number so our customers call can be directed to the right department or the right account once they call back.

Received call this AM from this number.  This call was made to a business. Caller did leave a message stating that they were from Symantec calling in regards to the expiration of a maintenance contract for one of their products call Backup Exec.  Symantec is the same company who also has Norton Anti-Virus products.

My guess is that this is a call center contracting to various vendors for call center services.

This number has called me multiple times a day for the past week.  They never leave a message and I never answer.

I got a call from 0012142694231 i answered the call, but no response.
I called back to the same....getting...."thanks for holding"....

How can i trace the details of this no.

This was a call center that routes calls for large corporations. It was a woman in Indian switched through a phone closet in Texas trying desperatly to get me to part with my $2K plus to renew my Norton Antivirus Corporate Edition Server Software. The number in this case translates in the switch to: 866 481 3661. I am sure other large corporations such as Micro$oft use them as well. Really any one that uses off shore call centers to conduct business. (Even companies more shady than Micro$oft!) Chasing the originating (214) number will get you no where in this case.

This will not stop until the Do Not Call law is enforced. They cannot be charged with fraud unless you give them information and it is proven they are selling it, which is exactly what they do. They could however be charged with violating the Do Not Call law as they are not a non-profit organization and no one has given them written permission to call you.

Typically they will not speak if a man answers but will pester women mercilessly. And yes, they are relentless, they do not make any money unless they gather information from you. Do not reveal anything.

The Do Not Call law is a good one but needs to be enforced. If they would fine these companies or throw the owners in jail if they don't pay the fines, it would stop.

Please write your state and local officials demanding that they do something about this type of fraudulent activity; it is a blight on society.

left no message when I didn't answer

Called saying they were from the Defense Contract Audit Agency wanting to do HR and Payroll compliance - I checked they are not legitimate.

The number has continued to come up on my caller id (via cell).  I do not answer numbers out of the area. Seeing the post from (B Senhauser - 17 Aug 2009) I recalled recently taking an update from NORTON.  I had problems; they needed to access my computer remotely to fix (which they fixed very well, and I was thankful for the remote access).  However, they also asked for a call back number.  Of which, I gave them the number that is now getting called.

They just called and aND gweN IDENTIFIED HER COMPANY AS symantec contract renewals...
THE NUMBER 214-269-4231 IS NOT A WORKING NUMBER and if you call the number is disconnected...

I got a call like one I've never gotten before, it had no area or country code, it simy said 4231. How?

I got the same call.  I didn't pick it up so I have no idea who it was.  It was weird.  Of course, you can't call the number back.
