had a call from 2142831316.  Why?  Who are these people?

Sunday 4:30 PM call. Id'er said from Dallas, Texas. My Tele-Zapper might have zapped them because only dial tone after zapper did its thing. Tried to call them back but no luck. Possibly I won't get another call from them. Tele-Zapper does a good job and everyone should have one.

Called at 5:35PM Eastern time on Friday, 1/11/2008; caller ID read DALLAS, TX so I didn't answer, and no message was left.  I've read some of the comments on another website on this number about being asked to press a button.  I read an article at a business office that warned people not to press buttons when being tricked into doing so because it opens your line to use.  Judging from some comments on this and two other websites that a survey is being conducted, it seems it's beyond the purview of the DO NOT CALL REGISTRY, but I'll still report it. Also judging from the comments (starting out as a plausible survey and morphing into vulgarity) I think it would fall under the purview of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) or Federal Communication Commission (FCC).  It's good to know from everyone's comments that I'm not missing an important call but, rather, avoiding what could amount to a problem.  I'll continue to confidently not answer.

Another DUMB telemarketer!!!!!

I receive numerous call from the number 214-283-1316. When I ansewer the phone they ALWAYS HANG UP ON ME JUST AS i AM IN THE MIDDLE OF SAYING  "HELLO!". lOOKING AT OTHER COMMENTS FROM OTHER PEOPLE ALL OVER IN DIFFERENTTOWNS AND STATES.  iT JUST HAPPEN TO BE THAT MY FAMILY LIVES IN A SMALL MOUNTAINF TOWN WITH THE FIRST THREE NUMBERS TO THE TOWNS PHONE NUMBERS START WITH (283-1234) SO i CALLED IT WITH OUT PAYING ATTENTION TO THE AREA CODE.  i THOUGH i WAS CALLING SOMEONE BACK HOME UNTIL i NOTICE THE AREA CODE.  iSN'T THERE SOMETHING WE CAN DO ABOUT THESE UNPROFESSIONAL IDIOTS?

Tried to call back thinking it was a friend, and it just gave me a busy signal.

I just received a call from this number but,like some other ppl I did not answer because the phone # was not familiar, searching the number in google I found out this is "one of those numbers"..... something should be done do stop this crap! specially being cell-phone.

Recv. call from this number for the 6th
time today. Last call was 5:15pm est. 1/31/2008.
No one every says a word, nor leaves a message if
I do not answer the call. Also when calling this
number back the call just goes into a fast busy.
So after finding these reports on this number we
have now used or persoal Call Block Service and
have blocked this number from calling us....

Rec'd a call today at 7:17pm.  Didn't recognize the number... answered it at 3 rings... got dial tone.  I, too, wonder how they get away with it when we're on the "do not call" registry.  I'll be reporting it to the "do not call" folks.

Interesting.  I didn't answer. Left no message.  Dialed the number back within 15 minutes and got a "disconnected number" recording.
