These are in way shape or fom a student loan. They are consumer loans from United First Federal Loan company.

I just got a call from this number, and I don't owe money to anyone that I don't know about (mortgage, student loans, credit union, etc). I didn't answer it, but I probably will next time, just to see what they are peddling. A lot of times these outfits buy old debts that have actually been paid and try to harass you into paying it again. I know this because a company in Atlanta bought a phone bill that I had paid off in 2008 and tried to get me to pay it again. I faxed them my pay-off notice and threatened to turn them into my state's department of commerce and insurance and the calls just stopped. Don't ever pay anything over the phone or especially give out your payment info unless you are 100% sure you owe. A lot of times these people are just hoping you are too stupid or so far in debt that you just pay it to get it off the books (even if it was off the books already).

Received a call from this number looking for my brother-in-law. They asked for my husband when they called and then changed and said they were looking for someone else. Tried to tell me we were used as a reference and they were calling to verify. Then changed their story and stated it was a court matter. I told them that person does not live here and hung up. They promptly called back and were rude and loud. The man was really disrespectful and tried to argue when I stated it was harrassment. He hung up when I stated I would report their company

You have no idea how convoluted you sound. My son got a call from these people about a loan he was suppose to have gotten back in 2002. He was only 16 and therefore couldn't take out a loan without my signature. And no his father didn't sign how do I know because he had died 3years earlier .someone else had taken the loan out in my sons name and we know who it was so now my son will be filing his own complaint with the police.
So don't judge a book by its cover.

I received a voice mail from this number with instructions to call the 877 number back, along with a name (Kirsten, can't remember last name) and extension (102).  Called back and she was actually very polite to me and asked if the last 4 of my social were  xxxx, which they weren't.  She apologized for the inconvenience and said my phone number would be removed from this person's file with the same name as mine.  It was the same company mentioned in many of the above posts.  I think I may have had a call from them at some point in the past as well.  Anyway, I DID NOT have anything that they were trying to collect from me and they verified that...it was an incorrect name/phone # association.  I'm sure that they have played hard-ball with some of you (and I've been on that end, too...had to go through bankruptcy).  I have to take issue with the posters who assume that everyone who gets called is trying to dodge a debt.  What probably happens is they get phone numbers for everyone with my name hoping to get the right one.  It did cause me a little bit of stress today waiting to make the call, but I knew that there wasn't anything I had done.  Just my two cents' worth.

Doesn't mean there wasn't something done by someone using your sons info as you have stated. However exert the necessary effort and clear your sons name. I would cross reference the socials to make sure they match. As well these programs are achieved under an existing nursing license so it would almost be useless to obtain the education under your sons name.

If you borrowed money from a credit union to pay this outfit The College Network... why do you feel as though you don't owe the money? It doesn't appear to me that the credit union and the program are one in the same. I researched both and they are not under the same umbrella. It seems to me that you should be holding the institution that originally received funding responsible not the bank.

Just recieved a call from a private number and stated he is a Harris County Deputy, John Montgomery. says I am being sued and wants to deliver papers to me.  What's strange is he says that I have been charged with a felony and named many other charges against me so why isn't he coming to arrest me instead of delivering papers to me?  I remember (always afterwards) I had recieved a call about a year ago in which a John Montgomery started calling me horrible names when I asked for his supervisors name and demanded a phone number since he would always call from a blocked number.  I know I should not get so upset but at first it's scares the living daylights out of me until I realize who it is.  I had some bad debt years ago after a job loss and it seems about 2 or 3 times a year I get a few calls but this John Montgomery is completely out of line.  Why hasn't anyone been able to shut this guy down?

Got a call from 214 522 6424 about money owed. Aside from the mortgage and car payments, which we are and always have been current we don't owe money. We pay the credit cars off monthly or carry a very low balance. They said they were coming after my house. This is obvisously a scam. The guy was Mr. Gacia. I laughed at him then blocked his number from my phone. I will contact the FTC as well.  I hope people don't fall for their scam. Nobody should ever give out bank account info to anyone. This guy would not tell me the name of the company either.

    Not stupid
Pass this around too...this same scam group calls using a 855 area code. I just now put it all together after getting a call from some Dallas number.  I blocked several 855 numbers and this Dallas number. I am not behind in bills nor have I ever been...so not sure what they think I owe. I am going to do some more research and see what people can do about this group. My friend that is a police officer was standing there with me when this call came in. I answered using speaker phone because we were painting. My friend took over the call stating he was a deputy and this mr. Garcia said he would sue him too. It was just really weird, odd and smelled of a major scam.

My Daughter is Not A DEAD BEAT replies to ???????
My daughter along with every member of her immediate family they have a phone number for has received calls about this so called "Delinquent" student loan debt. She took out a small loan to go to school and made payments on it as long as she had a job. Last January she entered a tuition based full time internship at a church, contacted her loan company and put her loan in deferred status until she goes back to full time work next year. She received notification yesterday that her loan had been "transferred" to another loan company and to give it a few weeks to complete before contacting them about it. Today she gets a call from Zac Slater at this number to my home phone and her sister's phone (the one they are contacting changed her phone number recently - so they likely don't have it). He is very hostile and angry sounding on the message - so I tend to believe what all these people are writing about the debt collector's practices. Today she received an email from the original loan company stating her loan is in forbearance from January to December 2013 and she will owe around $20.00 in accrued interest during the 12 month forbearance period. Still she is getting calls from this same debt collector about this student loan. I have the written documentation my daughter sent me as I am helping her draft correspondence regarding the debt.

Now tell me, does this sound like an irresponsible deadbeat who isn't paying their debts? Neither does the post that states they had a medical emergency and could no longer continue to pay their student loans while on disability, or the number of people who said they are not aware they have any delinquent debt. After all, the FTC has been investigating erroneous bad debt reports on people's credit histories for three years and the latest news I have on it is that it is next to impossible to get that information taken off your credit or resolved because everyone assumes the person reporting the debt is right. That is unless you hire a lawyer and sue the debt reporting agency - debt collectors.

You who are casting stones at people having financial difficulty clearly have not watched the news lately where millions of people are now working two minimum wage, part time jobs across the country to put food on the table and keep a roof over their head. And those are the ones who have not given up on looking for work all together. Seems to me that only a debt collector is abusive enough to anonymously post a slanderous and defaming accusation without any facts... Your opinion is worth what we pay for it - very little. If I remember my legal terms correctly, slander would be one of those things that may be civilly prosecuted as well. You have your right to express your opinion - but not to attack other people personally and slander their character unless you have personal knowledge that what you are stating is true and accurate.

The TRUTH (as it has been previously stated) is that if a debt collector will not VERIFY a debt in writing or provide any information about the origin of the debt - the debtor does not have to pay until such information is provided in writing, if the collector refuses to provide the information and refuses to stop calling and harassing a debtor after they have made a written and verbal request for them to do so, and/or threatens them with criminal action, as well as any civil action they do not intend to pursue - they are in violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and are subject to the full penalty of Federal Law as regulated by the FTC.  Furthermore, a debt collector cannot require a debtor to provide electronic payment information to satisfy a debt and must provide appropriate U.S. Mail contact information if requested. Not everyone who is in debt collections is just ignoring their debts or not paying them on purpose. Some people have legitimate reasons not to pay and have been working with debtors only to be abused by debt collectors. Maybe if Debt Collectors were about working with the debtors to get the bills paid, and here's a concept - polite and courteous to the person, listening to their side of the story - perhaps they would get more resolved debts. Not everyone who is in debt collections is a stereotypical dead beat... But, you know - you probably never stopped to think about that, did you?

By The Way--- I have personal and professional experience in the legal field and courts with this type of abusive debt collection and will be helping my daughter ensure that she is neither abused, nor treated unfairly according to the law as she works to resolve her present situation with this particular debt.

And, just a note about spell check.... did it not catch that you mispelled the word "buy" in your post? The sentence reads: "I bet not a single one of you complaining on this page have taken personal action to clean your side of the street buy actually making any kind of payment for whatever it is that you obviously owe someone." (Should be "by")

I BET YOU ARE DEAD WRONG ABOUT THAT STATEMENT WHERE MY DAUGHTER IS CONCERNED AND I HAVE THE DOCUMENTATION TO PROVE IT. Why don't you grow up and stop your personal attack against people trying to figure out why they are getting abusive phone calls about debts they cannot get verified as is their legal right under the law. People like you have one thing that I find extremely sad - a bias based on your own opinion no matter how flawed it is. Stick with what you know to be true - it makes you sound more credible. Have a beautiful day!

    1. The practice of collectors using an alias is perfectly lega. To do so the alias must be on file at the agency they work for
.2. Once a cease and desist letter is received by a third party agency they ARE allowed one more contact by phone to explain your options and possble consequences of not paying your debt.
    3. Third party agencies ( not all are debt buyers) are allowed to call you up to 3 times per day. Once they leave a message or speak to the debtor they CAN'T call back.
    4. They are allowed to call you between the hours of 8am and 9pm in your time zone.

The only violation I see ( if your telling the truth) is the hours of the phone calls. If you can prove thet called outside the appropriate hours you have a case. I however doubt you are tellimg the truth. My experience debtors are liars.

One more thing..If you pay your debts they will STOP calling you

This scumbag collection agency has been harrassing my elderly mother and father on the telephone. My parents called me very upset. My dad took ADT security from a high pressure salesman who didnt even explain it to him. My dad was going to pay ADT security $90 dollars to disconnect a service which wasnt even working anyway. He asked for the bill to be sent in writing, but instead they turned the bill over to this cesspool collection agency. Lockhart, Morris, and Montgomery in Texas. 214 522-6424. I live in Ms. This company demanded $2000 to $3000. I tried to talk to them but was unsuccessful since they are ignorant and arrogant trash. They refused to give me any imformation. I do have legal POA and was trying to help my parents. The woman I talked to stated that she had 2 years of law school so I better watch out. I guess all this [***] learned was just enough to work in a low life collection agency since she obviously was too stupid to finish law school. The only thing smart about her is her smart ass mouth. I will be sending them a letter of cease and desist and report them to the FCC. They have already been reported to the BBB and the attorney general. If they are smart they better leave me alone. I may just countersue them for harrasshment and elder abuse. The chance of this place extorting money out of me is just about the chance of a snowballs chance in Hell. I hope they read this letter.

yeah pay the original debt not double or triple amount of money to a collection agency. That is basically extortion. Money collectors will resort to anything. The love of money is the root of all evil esp when you try to cheat people out of triple of what they really owe.
