A man with an accent (sounded Indian though I can't be sure) called and asked to speak to me about my Windows computer. I had been notified by my employer of a phishing scam where someone would call and say they were from IT so they could remote into our computers. I was immediately suspicious that this was that scam. I told him I don't have a Windows computer. He mumbled something and hung up quickly. MAYBE he was a telemarketer, but I think he was scammer. A telemarketer would have made the name of his business known and tried to sell me something.

I have been getting calls from this number for about a week. Sometimes they call and I answer, then they hung up. Today they called twice. The first time I couldn't understand the lady on the phone, she said she was from some sort of government grant office and I said, "I'm sorry, what?" and she hung up. The second time, I could understand the caller a little better and he had me verify my phone number, address, and some other things that I can't remember - and then he hung up. I have tried calling back but the number seems to have been disconnected. Is there something I should be doing to protect myself, to prevent any fraud? What is this guy going to do with my name, address, phone number? What can I do to stop it?

This number called my dad and informed him his computer had a virus. Unfortunately my dad did not know any better and let them remote access his computer. They even gave him a different number to call so he could verify they were Microsoft IT. I called that number and got a guy with an accent that didn't know anything. Beware they are phishing for info. I had to sit down with my dad and give him a lecture about giving out personal information.

I got a call from this number and answered it because I get calls from all over about honey bees. It was a woman with a Asian voice and said she was with Micrsoft and they had a report that I was having commuter trouble and wet txt treat the trouble was. I said no way and hung up. I figure it was a scam to get into my computer and retrieve my information!

Called claiming to be windows Microsoft and said that I have viruses running on my computer and they will help me clear it out. I told them I didn't have my computer to see what they would say and they offered to call me back at a laTer time. I will check with Microsoft but this already sounds really fishy!

I received a call from 23-456-7890 at 6:38am. I am a neurosurgeon, and had just returned home a half hour earlier, after performing an emergency surgery that started at 11:00pm yesterday, until nearly 5:00am. Needless to say, I was already tired, achy and cranky when I got home. I was making a smoothie and getting ready to go to sleep when this call came in. My caller ID said out of area, and gave the 23-456-7890 number. I thought it might have been regarding my patient from the emergency surgery (hospitals numbers will sometimes come up with odd numbers, as they are usually routed, so I didn't think it odd at first), so I picked up.

A man with an Indian accent answered and said that he was calling from Windows, and that my computer had a virus detected. I had ran my virus and back-up programs on my main home computer around 9:00pm yesterday, and it came up clean, so I was suspicious. I asked who he was looking for, and he gave my name. He actually had an attitude when I asked him questions regarding what he was calling about. When I asked which computer he was calling about (since I have 6 computers in my house running Windows), he didn't answer at first. Then, after some shuffling noises on his end, he said it didn't matter which computer had the issue, that he could access and fix the problem from any computer. I told him that all of the computers are shut down or in hibernation mode for the night. He told "that is fine, I can wait while you get and turn on any of the computers." I laughed and said that it was 6:30AM and I had just returned home from a demanding surgery. He said something about the time doesn't matter, to which I replied that it mattered to me. I told him that if any of my computers had a virus, it wouldn't matter if I did something now or in a few hours. He demanded that I turn on my computer and that he would talk me through the info to fix it. That is when I got truly upset, and realized that a real Windows representative would not act that way.

That was when I statrted quizzing him. I asked which computer was the virus on. He replied "the one running Windows." I had already told him that I have 6 that run Windows. Then I said for him to give me the Serial Number if the computer that was being attacked, which Microsoft Windows knows when you register each computer in the setup. Again, he (in a very angry tone) said, "The computer registered to you." I realized that the number he contacted me through (my home landline, which I don't ever use as my contact number. I always use my mobile number, since I always have my mobile with me) was not the number I used when registering. I told him that I would call a representative from Windows Protection later, when I woke up. He said that they weren't the company. That made no sense. I repeated that I would call windows and re-run my virus protection software later, and told him goodbye. He then got very angry on the other end of the line and kind of threatened me. No one from Windows, or any company, would get that way. They would kindly say to run the protection software and then call back the main number with any questions. This guy got upset when I told him that I didn't want any number of his to call back, as I would get the number to contact Windows on my own. He screamed "FINE!! DO WHATEVER YOU WANT" at me. That was when I laughed out loud and hung up on him.

I decided to look up the number on my iPhone, and saw several sites like this one, with various complains regarding this phone number. If I get a call from this number again, I will do what I do to other annoying telemarketers, or potential scammers. I have a police whistle that I blow as hard as I can into the receiver. Since most of these places use headsets, they get the ringing directly in the ear, without being able to quickly pull the ear piece away from their ear.

    I received a call from 234567890.  I answered, "Hello?"  <pause> "Hello?".
I was about to hang-up when I heard a beep followed by a female voice saying "Goodbye" and then the call was disconnected.

I've received similar calls to this.  Usually it is a pre-cursor to a scammer call.  They have an automated system call you to see if someone will answer the phone.  The next day they have someone call you to try and offer you "free govt. grant money" or some other scam.  I'm sure some Nigerian prince is trying to call me from some spoofed phone number.  These guys just don't give up.

I've learned insults for various languages and have them posted at my desk in the case where I actually talk to someone.

This number has callee everyday for the past week five times a day, it's really starting to piss me off. I picked up yesterday to see what they wanted, they asked for some Jon guy and when I told them they had the wrong number the man on the other line processed to ask me how my day was going and what I was doing. It was extremely creepy! I hung up and put it on my autoreject list but they're still calling.

I get calls from this number at least 10 times a day. I picked up the phone once without saying anything and it was just quiet and then hung up. I'm getting very annoyed. Its either that or a bunch of unknown callers. My phone is blowing up.
