I received the exact same email but from a Justin Martins...This person needs to be stopped. Thankfully a friend sent me to this site before I sent any money. I the apartment add sounded way to good to be true....and it was! This was for a 2 BDRM apartment on the UES near the Met Museum for $1000 a month. With utilities paid and washer/dryer in the apt! Anyone in NYC knows this is just too good to be true...BEWARE of this man!

Yep it is definitely a scam!!! I live in SD ,ca with the same front about the house! it is too good to be true! So my Sis researched it a little more and found this website.
The name now is Lea Hald and they are suppose to be in London on a job that she is at for 2 years.
it did sound to good!
So be aware!!

How do you get the calls to stop?

I received the same exact email from Justin Martins, the apartment was the exact same one and everything. He calls me and tells me that that he is on he's way to FedEx to send me the house paper work and keys and that all i have to do was to send him the $600 deposit through western union in order for him to do that. Of course i didnt do any of that but i was about to.... He definetly need to be stopped.

Same scam is running in Tigard (Portland) Oregon. Glad I looked online and saw this post. The same $700.00 rent for a house here. West Africa story, too.

This person has contacted me via E-mail and provided this phone number as well as a similar pitch.  The funny thing is he is using the name of someone who several friends of mine, (5 of them) have known for a few years.  I had no intentions of playing games and directly asked him to alleviate my skepticism since a response from West Africa was questionable at best.  I asked him several questions that only the legitimate person would be able to validate and have yet to receive a response and doubt that I will.  I believe the property is actually for sale and was or is owned by the true namesake.  This add comes from Saco, ME under Chad Thebarge.  There is another one under Mary H Farrell in Old Orchard Beach, ME as well.  All from Craigslist.  "Be good or be good at it!"  He is not good or good at it.

Knowledge is power and ignorance is no excuse!  I'm pretty sure, Terry, that this guy already knows he's a scam.  He functions on a much bigger spectrum.  He hopes to net the few who don't educate themselves and cares nothing for the one's who do.  Without this information others may well have fallen into his ploy.  Use your head (if 10 of the thousands of people who peruse his adds send him $1,000.00 each month he makes $10,000.00).  You should thank all of the people who are kind enough to share their story or keep your opinions only to those who appreciate them, (yourself).  Thanks to everyone who contributed helpful insight.  I for one am glad to have found this site.

I found a beautiful home at an amazing price in Killeen Texas but sadly it has turned out to be a scam.  After emailing to see if the house was still available I got a reply that was similar to what all of you have written.  What a sad reality to see a scam tried so often!  I'm glad sites like this exist so I could check the phone number easily as a scam. Here's what the scam artist wrote me:

This guy is going by the name Brady Wayne now. He is trying to rent a house in Troutdale. I knew it was a scam when he replied not even answering my question.

How stupid of me!! I am a single mom and responded to a rental on craigslist on Saturday and my application was accepted on Sunday. The home is in Everett, Wa on Rucker Ave. My kids and I were so happy that we were finally going to move. The good thing is that I haven't sent any money to anyone.

I believe John Johnson, is up to a new scam......Now there was a man named John Johnson that posted his pic. on match.com claimed to be looking for a long term relationship with no games.  Claimed he was an engineer, over in West Africa, and that his job would end Aug. 27, 2012.  He had been talking with a friend of mine for 3 months online, even went as far as to get a calling card, telling her he had two children Henry & Hillary.......that his 13 yr. old son is with him in Africa....and his dtr. is with his mother in Italy!!  Telling my friend, that he loves her, wants to marry her, that he is a christian man etc.,  After talking for 3 months.............online and on her telephone  That he had been married 26 yrs. and his wife died of lung cancer......then it came down to asking my friend to send him $100 or $200 for his son's birthday present.....
