how they get the number is beyond me when i don't give it out anywhere !

i just got this text message 5 mins ago, i knew it was BS so googled it and found out u guys experienced the same thing. i dont get it. i have never given my number out to anyone.

Got a text last night claiming I'd won $100,000 and wanting me to contact them to claim.  Looked like a Nigerian scam, but on the mobile!  Checked country code 234 and sure enough, it's a Nigerian number!

Do not reply as they'll probably try and fleece you...I'm guessing they'll ask for bank account details.

I do wonder how they got my number...perhaps a random generator as it didn't mention my name.

omfg i just got the same sms. but gess wot, i sent them my e-mail addy and told them my bank details and they gave me the money!!! :)

I got a txt from this number at 2.20 this morning telling me i had won $100,000 what kind of people do this crap my husband has just lost his job n we are fighting for every dollar i knew this would be nothing but a fake thing how can they get away with things like this is my biggest question???? and how the **** did they get my number!!!!

"Congrats! you've won $100,000 Dollars,send your email address by sms text message to +2348093045347 to enable us send you an email with details on how to get it".

i got the same sms. by the way how do they get our no. any way [***] to them.

Arghhh I got this message at 3.30am this morning.  What a crock of s**t, but like everybody else it creeps me out thinking about how they got my number given that I have only recently obtained this cellphone number.  Is this a world wide scam or what??? Im in New Zealand.

I got a text from this number at 7am this morning. I note that the +234 prefix is the international calling code for Nigeria - our old friends are at it again.

DO NOT REPLY to this text message - from what I've read it seems it might be a premium text message service and you'll end up paying a high rate for the reply and any subsequent texts these weasels send to you.

Same message and number for me.

Obvious scam and stupid to reply to.  Like Wozza stated, it is most likely a premium text message service that will charge you for replying, so you are funding them for their scam if you reply anyway.

I'm in New Zealand and notice someone else stated they were too, so state what country you are from.

Being alarmed over how they got your number shouldn't be a concern, they will just be sending to random phone numbers with a random generator.
It's not like they have people sending the texts personally, it will be a simple program, coded to send the text to random numbers that are generated.

I received this text at 10.22am - 6 hours ago, and they posted 6 hours ago about this.

I got the same thing (I'm in NZ) - nobody would give money away with a simple SMS so it is clearly a scam of some sort, usually the most innocent things you might do can mean you lose $$$ so ignore it!

I just got 2 messages from this number tonight also..seems like they're targeting nz?? Is everyone on Vodafone too?

I got a text from +2348062161541 last night at about 10pm! I'm in Scotland. It's weird though because they said my name at the start followed by 'i miss u' so I replied saying very funny cause I thought it was one of my friends. But got no reply, so then I called it and it said calls from this number are barred from your phone! So confused...I don't have my number anywhere for people to get! And know my name!

well the no. is different it was 2347087852164 too many nos. for a usa phone what is weird is the first call from her was an alabama area code this all started from a dating site

hey im in new Zealand too and I just got a missed call from this number +234 705 392 7455 I have no idea who it is but I think it may be a scammer!!
