- Tim replies to Not interested.I've dealt with Zones in the past. Their pricing and cost is the same as the rest of the large resellers out there. Their products all come from the same place. It all comes from Tech Data, Ingram Micro, Synnex, etc. Since they are Resellers of Resellers (i.e. they resell Tech Data, Ingram, Synnex who resell from the direct manufacturers), they get their products double pumped in base price. Truth is, its only because these resellers purchase in massive bulk that they can lower their costs and give you discounts. Zones, however, does this cold call crap that is so annoying... Just to see what happens I told them that my company had only 9 people in it and we were cutting staff. It was funny... they no longer called me anymore. Apparently after doing some research I found out they will only call companies that are 50 seats or more.
As far as their Expert Connect and Onsite reps.. They are Zones employees, not actual employees of the manufacturers they represent, and normally do not know any more than the propaganda jargon the manufacturers send them in flyers, so their 'expertise' is dedicated to placing their branded product in your datacenter.
Every now and then you find someone who has half a brain though...
Recently I had the unusual pleasure of working with one Zones rep, who I called after I needed something CDW couldn't provide. His name was Greg Taylor. The guy actually has a brain on him. He apparently used to be CTO of some company in california during the dot-com so he has alot of insight into technology and was able to help me find a solution to a video feed config that you couldn't just put together with 'purpose products'. Kudos to that kid.. but every other Zones rep I've talked to treated me like I was buying a car, and always had to 'ask their expert connect' about stuff as trivial as LTO Tapes. One guy didn't even know what Ultrium was. He thought I was talking about Uranium and kept saying he didn't think Zones was allowed to sell radioactive materials.
Hahahahahah. I still laugh when I think back about that.
-Tim - No messageI agree with alot of the people in these posts, if you are a truely reputable company you will leave a message about your product offerings but not leaving a message at all is plain stupid.
A message just saying you will call back later is better than no meassage at all!
I am sorry but since we choose not to answer unsolicited calls we are made out to be bad guys, why don't you learn how to leave a message and maybe you will get some additional sales.
I have added their number to our black list and will continue to add additional numbers if they choose to keep calling. If I need something from them I know how to contact them!- Caller: Zones

- Amy O.Keep calling & hanging up.
- Caller: Zones??
- Jacob DThis company just doesn't give up - they call multiple times a day and don't take "no" for an answer. By far they are the most persistent and annoying cold callers out there.

- Call type: Telemarketer
- Jim W.They call me two and three times a day. They never leave a message and I always divert the call to voicemail.
- Caller: 253-205-3000
- ZonesHow many of you would actualy respond if a message is left please be honest becuase I have a number in my mind 0, no one would. If a message is left doing cold calls the rate of success of the client client calling back has been zero, in sales you must get that persons ear at least once and then you at least have a chance even if it doesnt work out but if you leave a message your chance went from at least once to none and that is a fact!
- Susan| 1 replyWhen I googled this phone number it came up as belonging to Zones, Inc., a direct market technology company. I work for a non-profit organization that provides services and programs for the LGBT community. I do not work in our IT department - we don't even have one. Our IT guy is a volunteer! So I really don't appreciate the persistent and unnecessary phone calls. They call my work number every morning between 8:30 am and 9 am like clock-work. Since I don't work until later in the day, I'm never able to pick up their calls, and they never leave a message. Had they left a message, I could have called back to communicate to them that contacting me is a waste of their time. However, I imagine I'll just continue seeing their number on my caller ID for some time to come. What a worthless, unprofessional, and counterproductive sales technique. Even if we were in need of their services, I wouldn't work with this company.

- Brad| 7 repliesJust googled this number for the first time today, just to see if there was anyone else out there as annoyed as I am with this company.
Good prices or not, "stalking" potential customers with incessant phone calls multiple times a day for months or years on end is NO way to earn business. It is unprofessional at best and downright annoying and rude at worst.
For those of you who are supposed "employees" of Zones here, you might want to relay that to your Marketing team that I will likely NEVER do business with Zones because of this "stalking" tactic of yours, and you've probably lost more potential customers than you would ever imagine because of this.
20 years in IT, and I have never been treated this way by a VAR.- Caller: Zones
- TammyYes, Zones is the company and they say they are selling IT products.

- just answer your phone replies to Brad| 6 repliesIt is rude to never answer your phone; all you have to do is pick up and say not interested instead of letting people think there is a chance. Also you never know they may be a good fit if you would just give people a chance Zones is a great VAR the reps bend over backwards for their clients and they are just trying to get more... IT IS SALES PEOPLE feel lucky that our jobs have not been outsourced over seas you could be having habibi call asking you what you for your IT products
- Jake Kindle replies to AnnoyedI just receved another call, from these clowns. Here is the problem. I do pick up the phone and say hello. They hang up, What is the point of the call? Do they get paid by the phone call regardless of a sale. I cannot figure out why they bother to call. Very strange comapny. They called today at 09:23 and stayed on line 3 seconds.
- Brian BrubakerZones is awesome. I dealt with them when i worked at Sikorsky, now I work at McKesson and having both of the companies i was in being Fortune 50, they really would go out of their way for us. Especailly the one salesmen. Shipping was always fast and always very professional. They never would call and harass me.

- upset| 1 replyi worked for zones.. this is the skinny that will put everything into perspective. they model their business after cdw because some of executive staff used to work there. they have similar but far more aggressive requirements: 3.5 hrs of talk time and 80+ dials (in other words they are expected to have logged 3.5 hrs on the phone total per day and dialed numbers 80 times a day). they are only given a limited amount of leads (thats what you customers are to them.. leads) to call and the telemarketers calling you already know which ones are dead from the beginning. that is why you are called every day, because if they dont call you they can get fired for not hitting their 80 dials or 3.5 hrs of talk time. when i was there, i heard sr. management refer to the movie boiler room on several occasions and they expected us to use it as a road map to success. that should be a red flag right there. truth of the matter is, zones uses the same exact distributors as cdw, insight, pcmall and others and only has 2 of their own warehouses. what that means to you is that their prices are no better than the competition to start out with. if they beat cdw or anyone else, its because the poor account executive who is trying to get your business so he doesn't get fired or harassed by his immature sales manager will go under water with his pricing to get your business.
none of the account executives make any kind of real money because there is so much overhead. 1. they are resellers of resellers of resellers so their margin is very very narrow as it is. 2. they get paid 7% of whatever profit margin the make, not 7% of the total price of the product, 7% of the margin. If they sell you 500 licenses of Microsoft for 100k, they get $1k profit. out of that 1k they get paid $70. most account executives consider that doing well.
most of your account executives are exactly like people say on the board. they are friendly, want to do everything for the customer, and want lasting relationships. but the management of this company is soo [***] backwards they hold the account executive back from doing so, sometimes on purpose.- Caller: Zones, Inc.

If it was truth in advertising, it would be:
Zones: Connecting Businesses with Annoying Telemarketers - your a cheapskate| 2 repliesHey all you have to do is answer the phone and be honest that your company sucks and they have no money and that you are pretty much a cheapskate, Zones is looking for partners that they can work with to help the succeed not cheapskates that dont have the money to get anything done anyway
- Yusef replies to your a cheapskate| 1 replyThis is why people don't want to do business with Zones, because thats EXACTLY how they feel about their customers... If they can't pay skrew em, if they can, leech the $'s out of em.
So sad. - PhilThis place sucks. Even after telling them I'm not interested, they continue to call. I've sent letters, email telling them to screw off. They still call. They should be prosecuted for harassment. Maybe a class action suit along the lines of unwanted spam - only unwanted calls.

- Phil replies to just answer your phone| 4 replies1st - I would not "be having Habibi to answer my calls". I deal with American companies. If their business model changed to outsourcing, I would change to another company. Period.
2nd - I've answered their calls. I've told them repeatedly that I'm not interested. I've told them to not call back. I've told them everything I could think of, short of using vulgarity. I will NEVER use their company. Yet they still call. Must suck to have that job. I try to wish no evil on any person, but this salesman's pushing that belief.
3rd - you sound like you work for them and are trying to dissuade the negative publicity that they have brought upon themselves. "IT IS SALES PEOPLE" - no kidding? It is pushy, rude, obnoxious sales people is what it is. - Tell the Attorney GeneralIf Zones has made the mistake of over dialing your office during the month of March, we are seeking proof of their harassment which will result in removal of their business license.
