This number called me on text now i was scared to answer. so i looked up the number and it said that it was creepy so i deleted the text now app and tried  calling the number on the "regular" calling app but it said the call was invalid and said it wasnt a phone number. This number must only be on the text now app.

Grow up.  The number is spoofed.  No one is going to crawl though your phone to say "BOO".  Ignore the call, block the number.

It's a phone number, not the Loch Ness monster.  It is meaningless, and probably spoofed. Block the phone number so it does not bother your. If you are scared and worried, talk to one of you family.

I got calls from the number, mind you it’s 2019, but it called me two times, I tried to call it back but it said the number was blocked.Im freaking out .

It's just silence in the calls and voice mails

I’ve gotten about 8 calls from this number in just the past four hours. Two one-second voicemails and a lot of missed calls. I tried picking one up and put it on speaker and heard nothing. I can’t block it because it says it is already blocked and so I just kept getting calls. I also use TextNow. When I picked up the call it said Greenland.

That’s the problem though is that you have no option to block it and it says it’s already blocked but you keep getting calls. I personally am not creeped out really it’s just annoying to get calls every five minutes that I can’t block.

But I have zero blocked numbers so how does that work...

With number spoofing and a few other tech tricks it can be hard to stop the computer run dialers. Some call blockers will not work on invalid area codes like 299, but there are a few stand alone call blockers that are more open-minded.  So you might look into that. Most, but not all, scammers spoof inside the same area code and so look for a blocker that can block entire area codes.

Looking over 20 pages of posts going back to 2010, it seems this number is used by many prankers, but almost no scammers. And if you read the posts, the word "creepy" is one of the most common descriptors. And a huge number of people find the number alone to be scary.

I am at a loss to explain two things.
One is why people answer a call that has an invalid area code and no name in the caller id.  That is just asking for more calls.
The second thing is the out of proportion number of reports from women. I find that odd.

Like pretty much everyone here, I got a call on my TextNow number. When I saw Greenland come up as the location, I was weirded out but picked up and heard noise like a call center. I said hello and it was a woman who spoke with something like a Caribbean accent. She said “I’m looking for [insert name here]. Hung up right away but wish I had actually asked who was calling. Ugh this has me spooked! They have my deets and clearly everyone else’s in some sort of database.
