I live in San Diego, California, and received an obviously fraudulent recorded call today (Monday 03/11/2013, 2:26 p.m. PT) from "Unknown Name," 304-400-6117. The exact wording of the recorded message follows. Note that the very first few words are what I believe to be Tagalog (I spelled it phonetically), which is spoken in the Philippines. I could be wrong about that. In any case, those words were probably not meant to be heard and were spoken by a female (synthesized?) voice. The second part (the majority) was spoken in an articulate female American voice.

"bŏ-ĭ-bră-him-uh (emphasis on the bră). This is the civil investigations unit. We are contacting you in regards to a complaint being filed against you. Pursuant. The Claim and affidavit number J000-0000, where you have been named a respondent in a court action and must appear. There is a contact number on file which you must call: 304-400-6117. Please forward this information to your attorney. In that the 'order to show' cause contains a restraining order. You or your attorney will have 24 to 48 hours to oppose this matter. The claim and affidavit number once again is J000-0000 Call 304-400-6117. Thank you and good luck."

If anyone knows what language the first few words are, please comment here. Whoever is responsible for these types of calls needs to be arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Left a message stating that I was a respondent in a case and had 25 to 48 hours to respond. Something about a restraining order or bank account seizure. Even have me a case number to reference. When I called had 3 choices, bank seizures, restraining orders or settlement. My choice was 2nd and got busy signal every time. Probably for the best. When I first listened to the message, it was a digital recording of my first wife`s name, who I've been divorced from for more than 14 years.

The message from these people is a scam. I called the number back and told them that Googled them and they were a scam. As soon as the gal heard the word scam she hung up on me. I called right back and just happened to get the same gal. I told her I was calling the FBI. She hung up again. Tell these [***] to get bent.

Sorry for the bad language in advance, I'm at the end of my rope right now!! I got the same message left on my cell phone yesterday morning saying I have a civil action filed against me, I have a restraining order placed against me, blah, blah, blah...I call back and press 2 and it's a busy signal. I found this website proving these [***] are scammers. I can't tell you how many times I've been scammed this past year and have attempted to be scammed. I'm sick of the worthless people that reside in this world! [***] people like this are why I've become a bitter person and I want it to stop here! If anyone knows of a successful action to take to get these people to leave innocent people alone please let me know! The cops here are about as useful as nailing jello to a wall so need another option. Thank you!

Debt collector.  They do a basic search for names then contact everyone with that name looking for people with delinquent accounts they have purchased.  Should not be allowed to harass people like this.  I am all for collecting bad debts, but go after the right people.

Got a phone call 3/18/13 Stating that I was being sued and to call them within 48hrs regarding Malpractice case pending. I chose to ignore as I find this highly unusual to be informed by robocall. I will wait to recieve certified letter instead if this indeed is for real. Looks like this is a scam.

I got the same message from original post from phone number 304-400-6117 and then a few days later they called again with phone number 252-375-3449  Just wanted to post the second phone number because I googled it and found nothing.

Rude, threatening phone calls.   No people on line. Dead line on call back.
Weird, happened right after my email and website was hacked. How do I make them stop.
Said a warrant was out on me. Etc.   Call my attorney... Etc... And have a nice day
Now calling all cell phones on my account.....    Rude.  Pain.

Also got the same kinda call... And  both numbers call me and my sons cellphone.

ditto....they called my elderly parents saying I had 24 hrs to get in touch with them in W Virginia and had a case #.  I called our county court, said I had no prob in county or state, then called military police and they said I had no prob with them or NCIS or FBI.  I reported it to FBI

Second call received from this "company" except this time called from 252-375-3449, same "affidavit number" and all.  Listed as a wireless call from Greenville, NC. Bad luck for them, I do have access to an attorney, so I don't need their good luck!

They somehow got a hold of my comcast phone number which I have never used anywhere cause I don't have a phone hooked up to it, they have been calling that number for about two years, somehow got a hold of my cell number.  I'm gonna block the two numbers i think, i can block individual numbers on sprint.
