- LindaKeep getting calls from this number on my cell phone - about every hour and a half - very annoying. Hope somebody can get them to stop.
Thanks! - MarkI got a call from this number and decided to call it back - a man answered and I asked if this was the Pew Research center - he said no and hung up
- Mark replies to NellieI called them directly and the person answered like it was a regular phone -I asked if this was Pew Research but he said no and hung up - no longer answering when I called again
- CorySurvey or "research" companies are "hired guns". Anybody that needs a ton of data from a survey can write one and have companies like Pew or Gallup handle it for them. The call I'm getting is for a VA study I volunteered for.while on deployment. The VA hired them to administer it. You folks getting calls "from" the GA Department of Health are getting called by Pew for GDH. Who knows who hired them for the survey about all the Jewish stuff.
I worked for Gallup when I was younger. We every thing from CNN polls to Budweiser post-Superbowl commercial surveys to drug company surveys asking about kids and head lice (you can imagine the responses we got on that one). Do the surveyor a favor and either do it or in plain terms say you don't want to be involved. If they keep going it's not personal, they just are required to try again.
Back on the Jewish thing, our surveys had to be an accurate sampling of the public. Towards the end of certain surveys we only needed certain demographics, like say a black man aged 25-34, or an Asian woman with a masters degree. If we called someone that didn't fit the demos we needed, the survey got cut.- Caller: Pew

- EddyJust received a voice mail from this number. The claimed to be from the Division of Public Health in my state and that my cell phone was chosen randomly. I work for a CBO that has contracts with the state through that division and the area code is all wrong. I believe it is a scam.

- LaylaI've had several calls from this number and finally answered. It is a health survey, or so he told me. I did the survey, took about a half hour. I was feeling generous. Some questions were pretty personal (zip code, age, race, etc.) at which I just said "no comment" and other questions were typical survey questions about health and fitness, eating/drinking habits, etc. It seemed pretty harmless to me. He even gave me a call back number if I had questions after the survey, at which I immediately called afterwards to see how legit it was. A real person answered and explained all about the survey and answered all the questions I asked him. He told me it is part of the CDC. He thanked me for taking the survey. Hopefully that number will stop calling now!!

- Susan PattersonTell them to either leave a message or stop calling. When I try to return the call, it rings busy. I'm tired of it.

- Geronimo| 1 replyThis number 312-529-9717 called me twice, I speak a few languages because of my job, last phone call I received was last night Sun. 07-14-13 at 7:05pm and I answered and spoke in German, I immediately was hung up upon and never heard from these guys since.
Btw, this tactic worked with numerous other scam and telemarketer calls, just a tip to minimize your unwanted phone calls.- Caller: Chicago

- PhillyOneCalled around 7:24 p.m. in Philadelphia, PA.
Didn't recognize number. Didn't answer. Caller left no msg. Plan to ignore. - arkleyThey call me about once every 2 weeks. I'm on the do not call list so how do they get away with this? They never leave a message and I never answer so why would they continue calling? It doesn't seem legit to me but as long as they don't show up at my door no one will get hurt.
- One RIngy DingyI was tired of these calls and picked up the phone. It said it was from Chicago and because I answered she QUICKLY went into her spiel about Los Angeles County Emergency Preparedness. I asked why she was doing a survey from Chicago about Los Angeles County and she said the company routes around thru Chicago. (whatever that means) I told her she is disturbing my sick husband who sleeps 10-12 hours a day and she said she would fix this. I PLEADED with her to stop the calls that I was on the DO NOT CALL list and she said she was exempt because she isn't trying to sell me anything. SO SO FRUSTRATING......

- stevoCaller claimed to be from the NJ department of health or something, I asked why the number came up from Illinois and was told that it was a survey on their behalf. Call ended.
- KenThey keep calling me , I know it's a scam of some sort , I chewed there [***] an told to not call me anymore .
- ChrissieThis clown called at 0712 PST! ALL Telemarketers/Survey Douches aren't supposed to call before 0800....so rules don't apply to this [***] Clown. He let it ring once, which is sad, because lately, with all the dumbo calls coming in and nothing stopping them (IVR numbers now making them impossible to block), I like to wait until the second ring, pick up the receiver and then hang up. At least that stops them until the numbers rotate to mine again.
As for asking about my "Jewish heritage," what's interesting here is that I have a Jewish surname, but I was born in Germany, so you can imagine my intense sensitivity about such matters. So...come on ahead, "Pew Research," if that is your name, you're already well known to the FTC!- Caller: Pew Research
