    Richmond VA caller
Called and offered a survey from the VA health dept in compliance with the CDC.  I told them that this is not a number for surveys, they stated my number and asked if that was correct.  I opted out for surveys as I also work for the Health Dept and had no idea of who this was/ and that they were calling from a Chicago number..

This number belongs to a survey company called Abt SRBI. It is a legitimate research firm that is contracted out by various clients to conduct questionnaires with people over the phone. The numbers are randomly generated in most cases, unless you are specifically asked for by name (which only happens in surveys where your particular identity is relevant, such as a survey for the department of veterans affairs; in most surveys it doesn't matter whose number is called, because the point is to give EVERYONE an equal opportunity to get called).

Since they are calling you about a survey, they are exempt from the national "do not call" list. Meaning, regardless of what you might think, they ARE legally allowed to call you.

As a former employee of this company, here's my advice: If you want to do a survey, and be pleasant about it, go ahead and answer the phone and do the survey. You will not get scammed, and you can refuse any question you are uncomfortable answering. If you don't want to do a survey, just state clearly that you don't want to be called, and then hang up. If you don't hang up, the caller is required to try to talk you into doing the survey. Don't expect them to hang up on you. And if you hang up without clearly stating that you don't want to be called back, you will be called back. It doesn't matter how loudly you scream "I'M NOT INTERESTED!", you will still be called again. Only the content of your statement is considered, not inflection, implication, or the degree to which you slam your phone down.

And if you're just going to be an [***] (you know who you are, and I pity you), please ignore the call and block the number. The person on the other end doesn't want to be subject to your stupid, obnoxious voice any more than you want to be subject to a survey pitch.

way to out your self. you are clearly an affiliate and i feell that you either A. self people info. B. casing houses to rob, or C. an incompetent  affiliation and don't know how to conduct accordingly. if you are either A. or C. you. and whoever pays you to conduct theses 'surveys' are idiots. no one in there right mind would pay a local Chicago number to conduct surveys. i'm guessing your B. in which whoever you hit is a sad soul.

So in other words... Unless you speak those magic words, people will have no choice but to be annoyed and interrupted by you.  AND YOU WONDER WHY WE GET SO FED UP.

    What happened to personal space?

Called over and over back to back for the last 3 days on my cell, I finally got tired and answered today, they said the were conducting a survey for ABC News, I told them I did not want to participate it the survey and told them to remove me from the call list. They said they don't actually have my number that they called me by random generated dialer they asked me my name. I told them it can;t be to random since they have called for the last 3 days and I have their phone number and I will call my provider and have them block you. They got rude and said go ahead it would not do any good that they call from many numbers and so i would still get a call. I then hung up and 15 minutes later i was called from a different number showing "Ohio" in the ID and it was the same guy with the same ABC News Survey pitch.

They claim that they are Pew Research.  They say they know that this is my cell phone.  I've told them not to call my cell phone.  It is a Chicago area code.  I've blocked them, but they seem suspicious.

This stupid survey company, calling from three different numbers, early in morning and late at night is going to be the death of me., Had a huge argument with my boyfriend because they hang up when he answers. I told the first lady I didn't want to be called, now she is using two different numbers. How can I get this to stop?

Got this number on my cell twice after normal business hours here.  First looked like voice mail but nothing after wasting minutes checking it.   Then called again at 9cst.  I read some of these are triangulated from outside country and steal your number and run up rates when answered.  Someone else pays my bill and will be really ticked if so.

Got called at 711 pm last night in Upstate New York. I usually just pick up the phone and say absolutely nothing until they hang up. I figure if it's a real call they will call back.
    Caller ID just says Illinois.

He said they were doing a survey about our nations issues.  Said he was from Pennsylvania but the call is a land line in Chicago. Probably another Obama cronie looking for information.  I told him I don't given any information out over the phone.  Only a fool gives out any information to a stranger today.  I wouldn't even trust a doctor with unnecessary information now.  It will eventually end up in federal and state databases.
