- SR| 1 replyI got this same call, and I acted fast, You have to change your credit card number and call dish to resolve the problem, I got a call from the number on the back of the dish network handbook from some Desi guy asking about a Upgrade for a Receiver and Was asked to pay 100$ and I was asked to share my credit card number with him, not knowing about this, I did. The next day I googled it and it led me to this page, then I changed the credit card number and called dish, The bottom line is, Google it and make sure it is REAL before you hare any personal information, Also you have to call dish and get your 4 digit pin changed, These people target Indian people, as my friend had also been part of something similar to this, I would recommend dish network to any of my indian peers aster this mistake.

- sandeep replies to SRNow there is new twist. They have hacked online accounts (don't know how--I never provided them any information). So when I log into my account online, there is a popup with the same "promotion".
When I say :"no thanks", a chat window pops up from (apparantly) dish cust support, and upon asking if this promotion is valid, they said yes it is valid. It all seems real, and if you didn;t know better, it is very easy to get convinced. I even took images of the chat in process, si I have the proof of then offering and saying this promotion is valid. Of course when I called on phone, the real dish said there is no such promotion.
I would not be surprised if these scamsters redirect the call in future, and you're not talking to dish at all. - Stephen replies to SrinivasI am readint this in February2013 just as I was about to call Dish; sorry for the problems; thanks for writing about to alert others. Dish seem to have made some modification to the menu access. Thanks again

- Scammed replies to KumarI fell for the pre-pay 6 months Dish Network scam. They had all my account details when they called me. They wanted a Green Dot Money pack card and had me call them at 18002853980. I don't know how they got access to my dish account. The 800 number is still active. I even conferenced in the real dish customer service with the scammer " Sarah Marshall" with an Indian accent. Don't know if Dish network is doing anything to combat this.
- MAbraham| 1 replySome one call me from 3138875222.

- Manoj Sahai replies to MAbrahamI used to get these calls frequently. Thanks to these morons that I disconnected Dish and moved to AT&T. Get rid off Dish. It's not worth all these troubles. Switch to a more professionally managed company. I am happy with AT&T Uverse.

- Anil replies to hugoI got the same call today 7/19/2013 at 5pm PT. He said that the satellite is changing its trajectory and I will lose my service in 15 days. He wanted me to read off my receiver number. I googled his statement while I was on the phone with him and this website came up. I told him that I will call him back using the 1888 number and terminated the call. This is the second time I have received fraudulent calls from Dish Network. Last time, my mom picked up the phone and he told her that someone was trying to gain access to my account and he can lock it if she gave him her maiden name. Of course she provided her name with a blink of an eye and he gained access to my credit card and bank accounts, he had somehow already gathered my SSN and address already (I think he got it from dish network).
- AkGInstead of writing my whole account, I am providing link from another site, as it happened exactly, as described in this link, in a step-by step manner.
The caller gave her employee ID, ID of the person that would come to install, etc. etc. The offer included an iPad 2, along with the Dish Hopper upgrade, for a upfront payment for either 1-year/6-months or even 3 months.
Luckily, for me, the last part where she asked me to go & get the Green Dot MoneyPak card, I refused.

- chaudharysame damn thing happend to me wha Kumar described above.. i called the dishnetwork, they said nothing they can do.
i went to my bank and showed them the cancelled check for 500 which they cashed. filled up the form
nothing happened . i think these people doing all kinds of fraud. they really convince you that they have
put the money in my account and i checked it at that time, yes it was there but then they cancelled it, and
suddenly the money disapper and i got the bill from Dishnet that i have not paid the bill and my service was
cancelled. i have to pay them cash in order to reinstate the service. please be careful from these desi
frauds. - ADScam continues. The amazing thing of this scam is that they are completely calm when you call them out on it. I told them that there is no way I can trust this story of changing orbitals and if they want to make sure my model is compatible --they should already know this.
He kept insisting that he wants to help me (the supervisor as well) and I kept pushing back and asking them to identify themselves.
Call ended after I refused to proceed further.- Caller: DishNetwork
- JohnScam is still going. I received a call yesterday for receiver box numbers. Once provided he had all acct info but I wouldn't provide payment info. I contacted Dish and our receivers are all up to date and need nothing. The person calling for the scam was named Michael Edwards and called from 888-495-8206. Dish indicated it was a scam. Do not provide any info to anyone if they call you!!!! They sound legitimate but it's a scam
- Caller: Dish
- anonymousThey call me many times but I always say I don't have any dishes with me just to leave them confused. These indian scammers better stop.

- VenkatThis scam seems to be alive and well. Got a call from someone with pretending to be a Dish equipment rep. Told me that the satellite orbital blah blah is changing and that my receivers might not work with in a week and he would like to verify if my receivers need to be updated. Asked me to press the menu button of the dish remote twice and tell him the 3 lines of codes that showed up on the tv screen. Once I told him the numbers, he said that the receivers will need to be updated and that they will be sending new ones shortly and he will set that up all for me. He asked me to verify my mailing address that he read out which was the correct one. Then he asked me for my password to verify my account which I gave. After that he said his floor supervisor will take care of me. The floor supervisor mentioned that there will be a some kind of a "deposit" of $50 that will be refunded after a year .. and there will be a discount of 5$ per month. All of this will happen on my autopay credit card. I spent a few mins discussing this and it seemed reasonable. He mentioned the last four digits of my credit card number (how he knew that I dont know) and asked me for the rest of the credit card information to confirm which I gave him.
All along I was suspicious but there was no single red flag that I could see that would have indicated that I was being scammed. I called the dish network phone number directly right after and they mentioned that there was no record or notes of any new equipment being shipped to me. The agent seemed to think the call probably misrouted or it was a fraud. I immediately called the credit card company and canceled the card. And after that I called dish and closed my account.
I am still not clear how these Indian fraudsters knew my home address and the last 4 digits of my credit card. Dish should take better care of its customers.- Caller: pretending to be Dish network

- Ann Arbor ResidentA few days back I got a call from someone named- Rahul - He called from a New Jersey Number- 201 793 7070. Also shows up as "Rapid Link, USA" or sometimes a DISH valid number- so you believe its from DISH. He had all my details of the DISH account. Told me that he would be sending a DISH technician to replace my receivers and I was supposed to send him a payment after that was completed. I was suspicious and directly called DISH asking if I needed new receivers. They did confirm that I needed new ones. After the technician left - DISH told me I did not have to pay anything to DISH. I kept ignoring the New Jersey phone calls -but he kept trying to get a hold of me for my payment. It is a scam! Be wary of anyone calling from DISH asking for payment - it is not real!
