Just to add a lady named "Sarah" with an Indian accent is also involved in this scam! She was the first to call me.

I had the same call a month ago but have an very interesting twist! The guy on the phone (and his supervisor) told me some satellite orientation is changing so I need to upgrade my box. He mentioned there would be a $99 deposit but I will get a $5-$10 credit every month for 12 months. When he asked for Credit card I got little suspicious, I gave it anyway because he was able to confirm my full a/c number and all payment history. But after the call I googled and realized it could be scam. Then I immediately called my credit card company and changed my credit card #.

But I still got my replacement box! I was able to activate it and ship the old box back to Dish.

I even got $5 credit in my last month's bill.!

But I still think these guys are SCAMSTERS. I think they have hacked into the Dish's customer care system and are able to do whatever they want (like order replacement equipment for customers).

I called Dish Customer Service to explain this and they don't seem to be taking it seriously. I guess we have to be cautious.

These guys called me in Apr 2016. Many of them can barely speak English. I gave them the receiver Id and when they asked me my credit card number, I asked them to get lost.
It looks like Dish had outsourced some work to India and these guys stole the information and started calling from that list with skeletal information for fishing.
I have reported them to the FBI as well as Indian police and they have told me they are taking these guys seriously

Just called called by Rohan from Dish N/W... the 800-333-3474 number... the guy was Indian as I recognized the accent as I'm one too. Right away I was suspicious as there have been way too many unsolicited phone calls that lead to scams... I told him to hold while I googled if this was a legitimate issue. Right away I found this site and told him he was a fraud. Of course he knew no dice so just hung up...

this is the reason I do not let DISH have my bank acct information. The extra $10 a month I have to pay is worth it to have my bank acct inaccessible to dish or any other vendor.
