- Ryan P. replies to bobYou feel sorry for them!!!??? If any of us that are receiving the calls wanted to buy a newspaper, I think we know how to do that.
- GeorgeGot a call from them almost every day for about 5 days straight. Finally picked up the call and it was "San Jose mercury newspaper". They normally once every few months. When they start calling, they wont stop untill you pickup !!
- Call type: Telemarketer
- williamCaller ID says "Local News", supposedly the Press Register of Mobile, AL. He said the local newspaper was giving away coupon books for free and would drop off. I said i did not need a coupon book. The area code is not in the Mobile Press local area or mine. Area Code 314 is in Missouri.

- ElaineCaller ID showed local news with a 314 area code. i live in Kansas City. A man, Eric said he was calling on behalf of the KC Star newspaper and that as a former subscriber they were offering me a 7 day subscription for free. What he didn't know is that I already subscribe and informed him never to call here again
- Caller: Eric - KC Star
- Call type: Telemarketer
- BrianI saw on my caller ID that they called me twice in the span of one hour. In the grocery store a couple weeks ago, like a dummy I filled out this form to get coupons; little did I know that in actuality, it was a subscription to the Daily News. I cancelled soon thereafter, but I think this was how they got my number.
I called the number back and the recording gave me the option to remove my # from their calling list, so I did.- Caller: news
- Call type: Telemarketer
- rtI believe this is a company that has somehow gotten my number thru a savings program/contest and is soliciting. My biggest concern when they start calling is I am limited on minutes due to our budget, two if they are a legitimate company whose employee is trying to make a living why don't they leave a message instead of calling all hours of the day several times a day, and then why not identify yourself. If I don't recognize a number I do let it go to voice mail but this one has called over 6 times and not one message with information stated above nor why they are calling. I have finally blocked but you would think if its that important to them to get ahold of us they would leave a message, if we are interested we would call back and inquire.
- Caller: unknown
- zanthal replies to GloriaConfirmed, same thing for me, here's to hoping they actually stop in 48 hours
- zanthalConfirming what Gloria said ... hope they stop calling *sooner* than 48 hours :-)
- Caller: Local News?
- Call type: Telemarketer
- DaveGet yourself a call blocker. If you have an Android phone I recommend Mr. Number. This number is automatically blocked along with anybody else who tries to call me but refuses to leave a message. All legitimate callers will leave a message.
- sam replies to NinaI also have on do not call. Keep coming in everyday. I am a caregiver a this is a problem for me to keep running to phone. I did answer and no one answers me.

- get a clue replies to bobso how are we supposed to know who it is? Jeez!!! There are a whole bunch of nuts out there (ahem) just waiting for unsuspecting people to fall into their traps. Everybody's got a scam. So, since you're sooooo trusting, why don't I just forward all of these random calls to you and you can have the pleasure of getting jammed up. JEEEEEEZ!!!!!
- ClayWho ever this is, this number calls me constantly at anytime of the day. There are times when long periods of time go by without a call and then suddenly this number starts there crap again. Very annoying, can anything be done about it.
- www.maxloh.comI think you guys are EXTREMELY naive. A caller from MISSOURI, trying to sell "local newspapers" in Los Angeles, San Jose, and TEXAS, all at the same time? Seriously, you believe that [***]? Any time you hear "local newspaper" from a caller it's [***]. It's almost become a comical scam topic, like "PRINCE OF NIGERIA".
What they actually are are scammers (or even just 1 person) who has some sort of device that can spam telephone calls by going through all the numbers from 0 to 999-9999. Maybe only 1% of the numbers it tries are being used by people. So it uses your response to see if you're real so it can start spamming you EVEN MORE!
I myself made the mistake long ago of going through their automated process to "remove your number" from their list. Of course when you do that, or ever answer the phone, that CLUES THEM IN THAT YOUR NUMBER IS LEGITIMATE AND WILL START SELLING IT TO THE BLACK MARKET.
DO NOT RESPOND TO THEIR CALLS OR FALL INTO THE TRAP OF GOING THROUGH THEIR AUTOMATED PROCESS TO "REMOVE YOUR NUMBER". DO NOT EVEN CALL BACK or you will start getting a lot of random phone calls in the near future!- Caller: 3147374546
- BThey are calling me at night as well and I have a cell number. I will report to the FTC no spam list
- RitaI keep getting calls from this no. It rings a few times and then stops. Caller ID says "Local News"
- Caller: ?
- Matt replies to bobDo not call means do not call BOB
- DiandraSame as other complaints. Call will identify itself as "Local News".
- jdownsthis number calls the house several times per day. When i called the number back, a voice recording says that "you have reached a number that is no longer in service". I only called the number because another site I was on said you can call and remove your number by pressing 3-1-1 after listening to a menu.
- Caller: Local News
- Call type: Telemarketer
- GLJ replies to bobProblem is you answer the freaking call and they hang up. If they would stay on the line I would save them the time of calling me, as I am not interested.
