We have received many calls on our home phone from an outfit that variously describes
itself as "Aqua Health" and "Care Connectors". They claim to be offering an annual
in-home medical checkup in conjunction with a major California health insurer. (Some of
the messages claim the checkup is past due). We were recently receiving multiple calls
per day from these guys.

Calling one of the (many) callback numbers they give gets a recorded message and a
ten-minute hold time for "Care Connectors" (during which the caller is repeatedly
advised that they are the next in line) followed by an invitation for the caller to
leave a message and their phone number, then they hang up. They also direct the caller
to their website. This was my experience three times, all during business hours,
west coast time.

I contacted the insurance company referenced in their message and waited for more than
half an hour while the customer service rep called around the company. She said she
could find no evidence that either "Aqua Health" and "Care Connectors" had any
relationship with them.

We are on the federal Do-Not-Call list. I will post this message on websites I've found
for reporting abusers. Also to the Better Business Bureau in hopes of helping others
save time and trouble dealing with these guys. I have not yet looked at the Ca. state
bureau for consumer complaints. I don't know what kind of a scam these guys are
running, perhaps they're looking for phone numbers of people who are innocent enough
to respond to their messages, perhaps it's an elaborate way to get people who receive
the calls to visit their website. I have not done the latter and don't plan to.

As they say, if it walks like a duck and quacks like at duck...
