It's definitely Walgreens prescription refill reminder service. It called 2 times in the last 2 days.

Unfortunately for us the people that had our number over a year ago now live in FLA (We're in MI) and never bothered to change their number in the system, so we get their refill reminders. If you pick it up, you can't opt out of the service...

Annoying...but not Walgreen's fault. It's the people that had our number before.

Yes It is a refill for Wallgreens. I have gotten 2 today.

I got this exact message, funny thing is I don't even have any prescriptions.

There is a debt collection agency in Omaha, NE - West Asset Management.  They are unscrupulous.  They have been calling my family for over a year about a debt owed by a DECEASED family member who had no assets at all.  Numerous times we have told them to stop calling.  They want to guilt us into paying a debt that is not ours.

I got a letter from them and then this same call two weeks later.
If they are posing as another company, that would be highly illegal.
When returning the call, I got the Walgreen's message asking for DOB and SSN - I don't think so.

Got this call, no message left. What is this? I am suspicious of this being a WalGreen's reminder/refill service.

Spoke to my local Walgreen's since I know I have no refills.  The number does belong to Walgreen's, however "Steve" stated it was setup to remind you to check with you local Walgreen's about refills.  By now all should know not to give out DOB or SSN, we have seen the fall out on the news by those who do!  Steve recommends that you do not answer the call, but to check with your local store for potential refills coming due.

On some cell phones you can send the number directly to your voicemail. I have done this in several instances. If you add the number to your contacts you sometimes have the option to send them directly to voicemail and not have to answer them at all.

I am switching to CVS because of these unwanted calls.  You can have your HI Tech and no more of my prescriptions.

This number has been calling my cell phone for a few weeks now.  They say they are walgreens calling about a refill.  Seems these calls began when I started going to a new Walgreens, not sure if that means anything. I don't return the call as it is an out of state number, I will ask my local Walgreens about it next time I go.

Last month, I received a call from this very number and answered it.  It was a REAL PERSON (and not the usual robocall!!) stating they were calling from Walgreens with a reminder to pick up an Rx.  Then, they asked me my date of birth!!  I hung up on them and went to the pharmacy to report it to them.  They told me it was a good thing I didn't share my information with them.  I mean, don't they focus on situations like these on the news all the time?  Strange thing was, I really did have a prescription ready at the pharmacy!  How would a stranger actually know something like that?

This morning around 11:30, I had gotten an automated reminder call from my local Walgreens letting me know I had a Rx ready for pick up.  Then, I got additional calls from the Omaha, NE number at 10:08 a.m. and 3:06 p.m. both of which I missed. I called my Titusville Walgreens and told them about the calls from out of state and they said there was no reason for anyone else (in state or out of state) to call me for a reminder.  I checked my voice mail and found they left a message to call back in the next 24 hours at 800-289-1179 The person I spoke to at my local Walgreens suggested that I report the calls as intrusive and bogus.  

And that's what I'm doing here.  I hope this has helped someone.

No, you're wrong.  It is not a collection agency, but something more sinister than that.  These calls have been traced to a spaceship of extra-terrestrial invaders working in tandem with the government - that's right, OUR government! - to lure us into their trap and collect our internal organs for study and rocket fuel.  That's the real purpose of these phone calls, and anyone who says it's a collection agency is being paranoid.

DO NOT GIVE OUT ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION!  Not if you want to keep your gall bladder, that is.

Walgreens corporate just confirmed it was really them, but let me opt out by just giving them the number that I was being called at.

But my local Walgreens didn't know what I was talking about when I told them I'd been called from Omaha. A little lack of communication there.

I called Walgreens Corporate customer service and opted out as well.  They confirmed it was their number.  Thanks for the info!

It is Walgreens prescription refill service, Press 1 for your refill, press 2 to cancel.   If you answer they don't ask for your DOB of SSN.  If you press 1 then they tell you when your prescription refill will be ready.  Very convenient, works great.  Haven't ever called them back, just answered the call when it came in.

You are correct - Walgreens NEVER asks on an automated for any personal info..it's a scam, and to those who really do think it's Walgreesn, they are greatly mistaken
