first received a letter of interest on buying my company,out of curiosity I called. The person who answer did not even know what kind of business I operate. I played along and pretended that I was in some other kind of business, she stated that she had a buyer, but could probably get a better offer from other interested buyers. Because it would take a lot of their time  they will require an small initial fee that will be given back at closing of the deal. I called her off on the scam and she hang up!

Receiving outdated (they claim April, and yet we're in the middle of May) SPAM FAXES from 613-236-0076 & 403-441-6802 & 954-586-1800, supposedly from The Mergers and Acquisitions Dept AKA Wall Street International AKA Sun America Capital AKA Transcontinental Equity Group AKA William Liebowitz World Headquarters AKA Chicago Capital Corporation AKA Seminar Corporation of America. This just screams SCAM! This is clearly stupidity at it's finest folks. More than likely it is a Nigerian 419 Scam. Will be reporting it, again, to the FCC and Bell Canada immediately. Phone number: 613-236-0076 is located in Ottawa, Ontario. The SPAM FAX is as follows : The Mergers and Acquisitions Dept, with offices throughout North America. Telephone 613-236-0076. Wrong Company Name, Wrong Address. Dear Someone Else's Name, It seems that I have been unsuccessful in getting my letters and phone calls past your secretary at Someone Else's Business Name. I wanted to write you again, because we have a buyer located in suburban New York who is making acquisitions in your industry. They are interested in buying all or a substantial portion of Someone Else's Company Name, Someone Else's Name. We have a great deal of experience in your field. With the challenges in today's economy almost every sophisticated owner is at least investigating his options. Please call me at 403-441-6802. I will give you the specific name of the buyer and a very good indication of the purchase price and terms involved. Our company is one of 106 locations owned by a F500 corporation. They sent their fax garbage to our GM, who couldn't legally sell the business even if he wanted to.

Not sure from where they buy their data, but clearly they do no homework, just mass faxing using mail merge. They have no idea of the business we are in . No street address of their company on the fax, no number to call to be removed from the fax mailing list.

They claim to have been seen on CNN, CNBC, FOX and Bloomberg, No doubt as part of exposes about badly executed internet and fax scams.

No legitimate business broker ever charges any fees to get your listing; they collect when the deal is done.

We just got a fax from 'The Private Equity Group', wanting to buy our company.  Only problem is, I work for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and while the budget is tight, don't think the Government is ready to sell us yet........

I got the same scam fax today, from an Alex Hamilton, claiming to be the VP of Wall Street Consultants Group and claiming to represent a Florida based billion dollar plus buy that wants to explore opening up communications to buy my business.

I got Alex Hamilton's fax today. Ironically, there is a FL based buyer in our industry!

It's through collaborative efforts like this that these losers get exposed.

Received the same letter from Alex Hamilton, VP via fax today (with no indication where it was faxed from, which is illegal according to FCC regulations) and only addressed to first name, initial.  Got a chuckle out of the mention that Wall Street Consultants Group has "Offices in Principal Cities" -- is that a euphemism for "whatever cities have the most idiots to fall for our scam?"

Maybe one day when I'm bored and feeling evil I will call them, until then forwarding and reporting.
