Why do they call, and not live a message

This is the truck line for DeKalb County Government.  I am employee there. It could be any number of departments trying to reach you as all County calls going outboard show this number.

I live in Dekalb County and someone called me from this number.  They did not leave a message as to what the call was about or why they were calling in the first place.  It's just irratating!

This number called me and asked to speak to someone with a name almost like mine. She said her name was Sherrie and she was looking to speak to this person about a lead on a job. She said they met at Suntrust... I like an idiot told her the right pronounciation of my name and then told her she had the wrong number at which time she abruptly hung up. As she hung up I wondered why someone from Dekalb County (didn't say what department) was calling me... What is going on? Why am I getting a call? Is this a solicator or something? Does anyone know?

Somebody called me from this number. After two beep's I answered but nobody was at the other end.
I was trying to call the number back but is bussy most of the time.Doing some research online, I observed that it is a Dekalb County call. However the number did not have any name or company name attached to it when appreared on my cell phone screen.

Received phone call on 01/20/2010 at about 9.30 AM, showing caller id as 'dekalb county' and nobody answered. Tried to call back and could not get connected.

Called on the home phone and asked for me she said her name was sherwanda. She hung up as i was coming to the phone I have tred to call back but it just rings no answer and no answering service. UGH this is so annoying

I know!  Some ignorant sounding female name Celeste works for the Dekalb Police dept. called from this number.  When I tried to call it back it only rang and rang.

Who Call me from this number, and what this call was for?

Yes even a Public Defender called me from this line weird how any Dekalb county person has access to the same number.......Maybe Dekalb can't afford to get any more numbers with their employees stealing all the $$ in the DHS office. smile

Received the call on my cell phone. I didn't recognize the number, so I didn't answer. No msg was left.

got a call this morning from this nbr.... i didn't ans b/c i didn't recog the nbr... i called back to see who it was but no one ans'd.... it rang and rang. i google'd it and got these posts.... very annoying !!!  so stop it, a'ready, wise guy.

Received a call from this number asking for "Mr. Brown"...........googled it and found it's Dekalb County, apparently they don't dial well there, lots of wrong numbers.

I just found out about this number if you guys don't know. I just recieved a call and no voicemail either. It's the Child Support office in Dekalb county and most time they will not leave a voicemail if you name listed on the case is not announced. Hope this helps

I'm curious....did you ever find out why they were calling??? I know this is an old post, but I'm just curious hon!

Child Support? REALLY? That's odd that they would be calling my cell number. I don't have any children and my hubby got finished paying child support eight (8) years ago! So that's odd!

I'm curious.....did they ever call back?? If so, what was their reason for calling, if you don't mind my asking!  I'm just wondering why they called ME? And they called at 5:01pm. I know, and have known people who work for DK PD and SO and I KNOW that they do NOT call after 5pm, and they CERTAINLY do NOT answer calls after 5pm! In fact, I have called DK for various reasons over many, MANY years. I have called late in the afternoon, around 4:30pm to 4:45pm and have been placed on an eternal hold where no one would come to the phone and then they would forget about having placed me on hold (probably/possibly intentionally??) and when I would hang up and call back, say at 4:49pm, no one would answer the phone and sometimes, depending on what department I called, it would go straight to voice mail. (Go figure....that's our Government at work!)

I'm curious if you ever actually talked with them? and if so, what did they want? Granted, I'm asking TMI, but mainly I'm trying to determine why they would call me on my cell, as I received a call this evening, at 5:01pm EST. Like you, I, too, live in DK County. They did not leave me a message and when I called back, it just rang and rang, until about the tenth ring, then it was a fast busy signal.

I know this post is almost a year old, but I'm curious if you ever found out who/what they wanted and why they were calling your number? What happened to telephone etiquette? That if a person calls the wrong number, they should have the common courtesy to apologize for calling the wrong number!! I don't call that many phone numbers to people I don't know, but when I DO have to make a call and dial the wrong number, or if I dial the correct number but the number has been given to someone else, I ALWAYS apologize!!! I guess it's just the way I was RAISED!!

It's a number that will come up for a number of DeKalb County numbers.  They don't display the direct lines when they call, just a generic number that doesn't take incoming calls.  so this could be Child Support, Police Department, Solicitor, DA, Clerk, a Judge, Public Defender, any number of people.
