I have been receiving several calls from this phone number and I don't know why. My phone number is supposed to be unlisted and only for people I want to have my number. I don't owe this company anything and I would appreciate it very much if they would stop calling me.

    IT'S A SCAM
All 40* numbers you don't recognize are the FALSE DEBT COLLECTOR Portfolio Recovery.  Any 402, 407, etc. are Portfolio Recovery.

If someone loves you OR if someone wants your business they will leave a message.

Don't answer your phone for unknown numbers.

If you are an idiot and you do answer your phone for an "unknown number" then tell them that you are Georg(a) Swa**** and that you have been getting a lot of collections calls for Georg(a), however, you got this cell phone number from "X" cell phone company "blank" time ago, and that it must be the former owner whom they are looking for.  No, I don't know them.  No, they don't live here.  No, this isn't their number.  If you would?  I get so many calls, it runs up my minutes (key word), would you please (keyword) take me off your call list. :)

    The key is...

    1. Be polite.  Yes, be polite!  That means you as*hole!

    2. Be calm, articulate, and professional.

    3. Sound relaxed and confident.

    4. The dogs will go hunting elsewhere by Federal Law.  (Key words, I'm so and so, not your real name bozo, and this IS someone else's CELL number.

    Can I hear FDCPA???

Do you hear Federal Bankruptcy?  It isn't a crime, it's the law!

Picked up one of these numerous calls tonight and just as I suspected - it's for someone named Gina  ____.  I've been getting collections calls for this person for years now and have no fricken clue why they call the number I've had for almost 20 years.  I've never known anyone by this name but I've also receive mail for this person from some electric company in Florida...maybe they should be dialing 305 rather than 303?  Who knows - I asked that they delete my number from the database but I'm not holding my breath!!

Portfolio Recovery began sending me very polite and friendly letters about a year ago, trying to collect an old debt. I foolishly decided to accept their settlement offer and proceeded to send them a check to settle the debt. One week after they cashed my check I began receiving daily phone calls, with no messages left, no body on the line. Its like stepping in something sticky. I can't get rid of them.

This company calls my home 3-4 times daily from different numbers. They claim they are trying to recover a debt from Capitol One balance of $783.47 last payment made in 2002. I told her that I did not remember the debt and that I would speak to my attorney to see what to do.

Thank you for the complete listing of Portfolio Recovery Services numbers. I have been receiving numerous calls from these people and they are a pain in the #$#@#$@! They call me around 6 to 8 times per day on my cell phone and they do not quit until around 9pm and they start calling around 7am. These people are jerks and they don't take no for an answer. I owe them nothing and they continue to call me.

If you live in the US and your phone runs apps, look in your app market for Mr. Number. It's free, blocks unwanted texts and calls, and also blocks spam calls automatically. Portfolio called me and got blocked right away.

Portfolio Recovery Co (PRC)  --- they buy old debts from other companies, so that you might actually pay the same bill over and over.  They dont do any research. In my case, it's not my debt but an old debt for the SISTER or my former rommate, and it was paid-off!!!!

All you have to do when you receive a call from any of the Portfolio numbers is reply with:  May I refer you to the Fair Debt Collections Act.  If they call you again, they are violating a Federal Law.  I kept receiving these calls day after day.  When I referred them to FDCA about 2 weeks ago, the calls stopped immediately.  Hope this helps someone.
