I called the number back and received a long spiel, but eventually they say you can leave your name/number to be removed from their "internal list".  They claim that they are exempt from the Do Not Call list, likely for some of the reasons listed above.

police-sponsored fund organization. ID reads SNJS West. This bites! Why should "charities" get off from the DNC List?? DO NOT CALL means exactly that....DO NOT CALL me, period. No charities, no collections, no political parties, nada, zip, none!! We should all get pre-paid cell phones every couple of months...only have an internet only (no land line) connection!

Keeps calling but says nothing except "due to a techmical difficulty we are unable to tal with you"  Let's get them outed and unable to call anyone!!

I get calls from this phone number all the time.  They never leave a message and I never answer it.  If the don't leave a message or if their name doesn't show up, don't answer.

I called the number back and get this long winded, crackly recording about purchasing some sort of ticket for family fun for $40.00. I'm prepared to scare the bejesus out of this caller the next time they disrupt my weekend. The caller will wish he or she never came into this world when I'm done with them. Saying that I'm pissed is a mere understatement. Remember the 1983 film Scarface? If you do, remember how the character Tony, played by Al Pacino, dealt with people who pissed him off?

i get these calls but have nothing whatever to do with ATT. but i do get your meaning. ATT is a punchline.

my version of the message is a little diffrent but basically the same. It starts in the middle of a word, like 'Orry' instead of 'Sorry' as if some of the massage is chopped off. But its stupid. Its like "Orry we were unable to speak to you directly. Please accept our sincere apologies. Good-bye" It's too ridiculous to get mad about. But it does get tiresome. How could anybody be so lame as to not know the message they are putting out? And for so long...

These people have the audacity to call on Sunday mornings! The stupid caller was trying to sell me some entertainment package. I told the caller that I don't go to movies, shows, and rarely do I travel for pleasure. She kept talking over me in her thick accent. I finally asked her to, "be polite and let me speak." That yielded to her hanging up on me.

A little kindness and courtesy goes along way. Try being mature when conversing with telemarketers. They don't know you, you don't know them, they're not out to get you. Although there are some bad apples out there making calls, that doesn't mean that all telemarketers are fraudulent. If you're courteous with them they'll be most happy to comply with your request to be removed from their caller data bases.

Have rec'd my 2nd call from the same number - no voice when I pick up, just silent, but still connected. Called at 5:50 p.m. on Jan. 11, and 5:50 p.m. on Jan. 14. I'm curious why it's calling us at the exact same time each time. Is the caller trying to establish patterns?

I've gotten calls from this number too.  I pick up and then after saying hello and no one answers me back right away, plus I hear background noise, I hang up.  I think it's best not to pick up the phone as someone said, they might be doing research to see when you're home and when you're not.  I think it's best to just not pick up if possible in the future.  I get lots of research calls too, so I think I'll stop answering if I don't recognize the number or caller in the future.  There's too many scams out there these days!!!

Got a call from this number tonight at 8:50 - way to late to be calling, #1.  Claimed to be from the Santa Cruz Police Department.  Disgusted that this sham company is using the tragedy in Santa Cruz to make money.  They ought to be prosecuted for false impersonation.  DO NOT give to this organization.

I called them back this morning and got a recorded message that said it was a call from a fund raising organization and are exempt from the do not call registry?

They sell tickets to different events at $40 per family? But state if you leave a message with your name and number they will remove you from the in house call list.

They're still canvassing the San Jose area.

shouldn't we all answer in case these nuts are casing our homes to see who is home and who is not in order to invade?

I have received countless calls from this number.  The first several were automated with the same message described by others, "Due to technical difficulties we are unable to speak with you..." ?!?!  The calls have been as late as a couple minutes before 9pm on two occasions.  I have called back several times attempting to reach someone and complain.  No such luck.  There is a message that you all are all too familiar with-  "We apologize for any inconvenience...we are exempt from the Do Not Call List as we work for non-profit organizations.."  Yeah right.  I read the FCC rules for the exemption.  3rd party contractors are NOT exempt...only the non-profit entity itself.  Then the message says something about selling tickets for a benefit, but there is no actual attempt to sell tickets of any kind?  The message concludes by offering to place you on their private do not call list if you leave your full name, address, and phone number at the tone??! I think not.  I left my phone number only with a nasty message that I was reporting them to the police if they called me again, which I did!  Did this stop them? Nope.  Several calls while I was away last week.  Call tonight at almost 9pm, but an actual woman on the phone this time.  She claimed she worked on behalf of the Santa Cruz Police Department? I seriously doubt that! The SCPD doesn't engage in harassing behavior for donations. I told her off.  I told her I had already reported that # to the Do Not Call Registry and was sick of their calls. I told her it was almost 9pm at night! She apologized and hung up.  Anyone want to guess whether the calls will stop?  Yeah, me neither.
