PS - WE JUST CALLED THE *REAL* MERCURY NEWS AND REPORTED THESE IMPOSTORS PRETENDING TO BE THEM.
First we called the police and reported them.. Then we called verizon wireless and had them blocked.. But not before we called the REAL san jose mercury news  and gave them the number and info on these impostors.. **NOW the REAL mercury news is CALLING THEM!!!** Yes, ou heard right.. We spoke with a rep for mercury news and they said the are definitely calling them and getting this harassment figured out.
Its not hard to connect the dots.. go to the mercury news website and look under the contact list.. nowhere on that list does this 0182 number appear.

We asked mercury news if they were associated with this number and we come to find out that are definitely NOT associated with this number.
I advise EVERYONE to call and report them to the mercury news..

We are going to file for harassment tomorrow morning and REALLY find out who these people are..

recieving calls daily from this phone number

got 3 calls today from this number but  they never left any message.
Yesterday they called twice.
I am on the o not call list.P9R7

They call frequently. Got 2 calls today. Caller ID shows NO ML PBIS. Let the answering machine take the call but no message was left. The call screen service (*60) does not work on this number.

THese people call me almost everyday since June2010, and I dont answer #' I dont know!!!!! They really need to find something better to do with there time

As I have posted before if you call back the number in question, 408-535-0182, and leave you number it will be removed from the calling list and you wil NEVER recieve a call from us again. If you asnwer the call and speak to a sales rep simply tell them that you wish to be put on the do not call list and they will do so and you will never recieve another call again. Furthermore if you wish to speak to me directly mention that to the operator or leave a message to that effect with you call back number and I will gladly call you back to answer any questions you may have.

okay this is how there scam system works.  you leave your name back so they can put you on a Do not call system, but at the same time you gave them your full name and phone number. from that they have your state, city and zip code. they don't care about having you sign up to the Sj mercury news.

all they want is information so they can ID Theft you,

they have your phone number becase they got it from a site like Facebook or something, there closer and closer to unlocking you with the society we live in which sponors that myspace and facebook all the time.

Fraud Protect your SSN and ID, and as well as your Social Networking sites, make sure no personal information is being distributed. like email, and phone number.  delete old account no longer sharing your information!!!!!    I'm going to track them down and hurt them...

There is no scam, It is simply a telemarketing call to offer you a subscription for home delivery. You are not asked for any personal information.

If you wish to not recieve any future calls please tell the caller to place you on the Do Not Call list and the calls WILL stop. We do not wish to bother people that do not want the paper. You can also call back the number 408-535-0182 and leave your number and we will place it on the Do Not Call list.

....regarding the post prior to mine. You do not need to give your name or any other info to be removed from the calling list. We simply need your phone number to ensure that it is removed properly.

I will continue to monitor these forums to ensure everyone is educated as to how to make the calls stop.

Just called the number and left them a message to remove my number.  Hopefully it works...

Calls from 4085350182, several times, are extremely irritating.

Called them back a few months ago and went through the prompts to get name on their do not call list.  The calls stopped for a while but started back up yesterday.  These guys are lucky I don't live near them or I would be making a personal visit to their offices!!

They called me twice but the second time i didnt answer it iswear if they call me again i will find out where they live and i will beat the living [***] out of them

I work for the company in question and have posted here before.

If you do not want to be called simply tell the telemarketer to 'Put you on the Do not call list' and they will not phone back. If you dont answer the call you can simply call back the number 4085350182 and tell the operator or leave a message saying your number and that fact you would like it added to the Do Not Call list.

This will stop the calls.

I live in Contra Costa Country and they STILL call me! I told them I live in CC County and they said,

"oh, it's ok we can send you coupons"

UM, NO! actually stop calling me! don't send me anything. I can't imagine how a company like this can be profitable to hire people

Why do they insist on calling at 8 in the morning? I have a 646 area code (that is NYC, folks -- not anywhere near SJ!)... figure it out! And I've already told you to stop calling before!

Call them back at their customer service number -- it is the merc news... Comcast probably sells all new subscriber numbers to them for 'local' potential deliveries...
